On with some of the work we've been doing recently

First is a ground up build for an R32 GTR.

As you can see from the photos the cage actually passes through the rear floor pan and into the front subframe mounts. There is some tricky work done to get the two bars welded to plates directly ontop of the subframe pins.

R32 GTR diff and gearbox breather. This unit has 3 separated breather sections for the front diff, transfer case and hollinger. They all breather into their own tank which is linked to a common breather manifold.

Passengers foot rest to mount up the Haltech control units. We also completed a dry sump conversion on this R34 GTR.

Working with Ross' crank trigger kits on all our circuit GTR's has been a great success.

R32 GTR dry sump conversion.

This is the fire wall plate which uses two bulk head fittings to pass the scavenged oil and the pump return through.

Using an aviad 4 stage pump with a slightly different sump design than I normaly use.

This new setup also uses the same HTD belt to drive the power steering

The sump design isn't as ideal as the previous one I was doing. But this one lends itself far better to the new pump bracket and plumbing. With the original sump and this bracket it's very fiddly to plumb up.

I did one last week and it took ages, each prolite hose needed an internal spring to prevent kinks and straight fittings are cheaper than 45/90deg ones. So when you can use more straights it works out cheaper to plumb up as well.

They can be good or bad actually.

I didn't strip the red one down but soole's white one I have done a couple of times.

It's not that bad anymore due to the body work changes that have been made.

You'd think the rear clam would come off easy in under 5 mins.

It takes about an hour to remove a factory fitted one.

They are a pain in the arse to cage, I've done plenty of lotus cages but everyone is different cause your battling to fit various sized drivers into them. Some can for with intrusion bars, others have no chance, roof diagonals are a nightmare they need to be made with the driver in the car and a helmet on just to sure.

Inlet manifold that has been coated by Chris At Craved coatings. We are doing a whole engine bay over haul to an R34 GTR that had a turbo drain melt and cause a rather large mess.

Depends what sort of brace your after.

A basic brace fabricated from plate (cheapest way to buy Ti) can start around $1400 with 1.2mm wall thickness and 3mm strut plates

A complex one done from round tube (usually plate rolled and purge welded) with gussets and master braces etc an go up to $2400.

Couple of emails about Ti braces and components.

I have access to grade 5 Ti (TI-6AI4V common 6-8% alluminium alloyed Ti)

The supplier I have is also an employee that sub contracts to me so I won't be abusing his generosity and selling raw material, more than happy to quote on fabricated parts though.

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox ! 
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
