If the AFR's sat at 15.5:1 at cruise, then assuming you have a power FC, it wont be a failed O2 sensor. Mine wouldnt sit on 15.5 with O2 feedback on as its not in the range for the standard O2 sensor so the AFR's fluctuate between your desired AFR and say 14.3:1 (or at least mine did)

This is under the assumption that you have a Power FC and are using the standard O2 sensor with O2 feedback on.

Does it feel any different to drive at all?

double check all your hoses. I had my AFR's change randomly (one day they were fine then a week later they were to lean, then tune to suit, then they go rich all of a sudden) and I'm pretty sure it was due to one of my breather hoses having a big split in it and sucking in extra air the AFM wasnt seeing

This is on the suction side so made it lean, if you were to lose air on the other side it would make it a bit rich

It doesn't feel any different at all, it feels fine. I was driving on the freeway for almost 2 hours, I didn't feel anything change. At the start of the trip things were fine, by the time I got home my wideband was saying I was running stupidly rich.

O.K so all the cruise AFR's were tuned manually?

Sounds like something on the pressure side is getting hot and letting some of the air out possibly? but I guess you'd hear that on boost if it had an air leak.......

Short of saying try another AFM or CAS I dont know what else to suggest lol

Yeh cruise AFR's have been set up with the VE trim table, it was all working fine... I don't think it is heat related either, as even when the motor is cold my wideband is reading very rich. It does usually run a bit richer when cold, but never this rich. I have a feeling it's a stuffed O2 sensor. Very disappointing, has only lasted about 5000kms and 3-4 months confused.gif

Oh is the VE Table tied in with 02 feedback?

I dont know alot about the Nistunes. I thought when you said no 02 feedback it was a bit like mine which is running solely off the injection map with no correction from the 02 sensor

Well could very well be your 02 sensor

Oh no no, the VE table is the Volumetric Efficiency. Basically the primary fuel map on the R34 ECU can only go as high as 14.7 as the whole map is flagged for O2 feedback and it can't be switched off. So when tuning the cruise AFR's without O2 feedback, you set the cells in the primary map to 14.7 and then trim them using the VE table until you get your desired AFR.

Will try to find someone with an AEM UEGO near me, don't know anyone off the top of my head though.

spend $100 at a tuning shop putting it on a dyno? Can you still use a consult to check the sensors? I think you can with the nistunes but not sure

If so take it to a workshop with one of them and a dyno and see what voltages the 02 sensor is putting out etc.

Are you sure? or are they self calibrating?

The Innovates we use require calibrating every so often, you have to take them out of the dump pipe and calibrate in clean air or you get quite bizarre readings.

Yeh the AEM's are supposed to be self-calibrating.

    • Yup. You can get creative and make a sort of "bracket" with cable ties. Put 2 around the sender with a third passing underneath them strapped down against the sender. Then that third one is able to be passed through some hole at right angles to the orientation of the sender. Or some variation on the theme. Yes.... ummm, with caveats? I mean, the sender is BSP and you would likely have AN stuff on the hose, so yes, there would be the adapter you mention. But the block end will either be 1/8 NPT if that thread is still OK in there, or you can drill and tap it out to 1/4 BSP or NPT and use appropriate adapter there. As it stands, your mention of 1/8 BSPT male seems... wrong for the 1/8 NPT female it has to go into. The hose will be better, because even with the bush, the mass of the sender will be "hanging" off a hard threaded connection and will add some stress/strain to that. It might fail in the future. The hose eliminates almost all such risk - but adds in several more threaded connections to leak from! It really should be tapered, but it looks very long in that photo with no taper visible. If you have it in hand you should be able to see if it tapered or not. There technically is no possibility of a mechanical seal with a parallel male in a parallel female, so it is hard to believe that it is parallel male, but weirder things have happened. Maybe it's meant to seat on some surface when screwed in on the original installation? Anyway, at that thread size, parallel in parallel, with tape and goop, will seal just fine.
    • How do you propose I cable tie this: To something securely? Is it really just a case of finding a couple of holes and ziptying it there so it never goes flying or starts dangling around, more or less? Then run a 1/8 BSP Female to [hose adapter of choice?/AN?] and then the opposing fitting at the bush-into-oil-block end? being the hose-into-realistically likely a 1/8 BSPT male) Is this going to provide any real benefit over using a stainless/steel 1/4 to 1/8 BSPT reducing bush? I am making the assumption the OEM sender is BSPT not BSPP/BSP
    • I fashioned a ramp out of a couple of pieces of 140x35 lumber, to get the bumper up slightly, and then one of these is what I use
    • I wouldn't worry about dissimilar metal corrosion, should you just buy/make a steel replacement. There will be thread tape and sealant compound between the metals. The few little spots where they touch each other will be deep inside the joint, unable to get wet. And the alloy block is much much larger than a small steel fitting, so there is plenty of "sacrificial" capacity there. Any bush you put in there will be dissimilar anyway. Either steel or brass. Maybe stainless. All of them are different to the other parts in the chain. But what I said above still applies.
    • You are all good then, I didn't realise the port was in a part you can (have!) remove. Just pull the broken part out, clean it and the threads should be fine. Yes, the whole point about remote mounting is it takes almost all of the vibration out via the flexible hose. You just need a convenient chassis point and a cable tie or 3.
