C'mon guys there must be some skyline owners that used some of the import dealers in Sydney or Brisbane that Have a good or bad experience to tell.

If someone in your opinion is dodgy let me know so I can avoid them!!!

Vice versa of course.

The longer you take the longer it takes for me to get my skyline!!

Now ya not gonna make me wait are ya!!

Cheers J-Flash

Have you condiderd buying one privitely? May be cheaper, and certainly a lot quicker! Might be "safer" buying through a dealer, but syd or bris is a fair hike for a warrenty claim.

If you get a good car, there's not much that goes wrong with them anyway....

are you looking for an importer or a local dealer.

On a related topic, Lahood motors on parra rd in sydney got done for winding back odomoters up to 70000k back on 15 cars. They used to sell skylines too :D Now kinda empty there

www.prestigemotorsport.com.au -- nothing but a pleasure to use so far.

LW.

Let me second this.

My car is due any day now and the whole experience with Prestige has been great. A few delays while waiting for import approval but the rest has been smooth sailing.

kristian is his name,

he does alot of parts, so when he imports cars he does not charge as much as others...

every single importer has access to the same car.

so if you locate the car urself you will save $$$

let him know chris from streetdreams told you to call him.

he will look after you.

he works throughout sydney...

Just a pity that some of his recent vehicle offerings have not been investigated by him properly in regards to sevs eligibility. Ie the black supra that he all but sold before he found out that in actual fact it could only be brought in for race or rally.

Importing a car is a gamble not to mention a huge financial commitment. People need to be confident that those they entrust to guide them through the import process and organise their import have the knowledge, reputation and expertise to deliver.

For this reason I would stand by Prestige (from experience) and I would happily deal with Direct Imported or UPI after the glowing referrals others have provided.

I can't vouge for them yet but I am in the process of importing a S2 R33 from SVI (Special Vehicle Imports) of the business that I spoke with they offered the best overall package eg price plus I have heard a lot of good things about them... will soon find out but I am confident they will do the job well.

Yeah through import mags have read good things about SVI they can find you a really modified car if you want. only thing is they take all the gear off for compliance then u have to get it put back on but when u see S2 R33's in top nick for $19 000 with it's own supply of free goodies for you then I'd say gimmie gimmie :headbang:

I would suggest that if you do go down the path of importing yourself, try to use the same Broker as you do RAW (compliance workshop) as then you deal with the same person throughout the process. And often, they will be more careful with what cars they will offer to you to bid on as they will be the ones who need to comply them. Therefore, they may be more likely to steer you away from excessive mods which need to be removed for complaince.

I personally have used Autoworx (www.perthcars.com) to import my S1 R33 GTS-t and they have been excellent.

but I'm yet to come up with money but would like to hear about some of the NO GO zones when it comes to import cars. Weither that be importers or car yards.

And another note supahiro27 can help you out with cars and goodies for em (legaly) of course lol But adam don't think I forgot you still to get the money lol :D

Agreed, Phil got my R33 GTR V-spec and I couldn't be happier. I got it on the road 4 weeks ago and its as close to perfect as I would expect. Exactly the way it was described to me. The guy is great to deal with, so great in fact that I have him searching for a R33 4dr as we speak. Placed a bid on a car today, hope I get it!

i recommend j-spec return their phone calls and emails, they have very good customer service *before* the purchase, but as soon as the cash goes over, t h i n g s s t a r t t o s l o w d o w n.

i bought my car through a friend. edgeimports.com.au dunno if he's doing still doing it actively, he could be abit better on correspondence aswell.

reminds me of a thread on a motorbike forum about a person selling new and 2nd hand bikes over the internet. the bloke wasn't returning phone calls and queries from the buyer and worse still the pics of the bike werent a true indication of the bike he was supplied (very late mind you).

the seller claimed he was being harrassed and subsequently he got got character assassinated in one thread. word quickly spread and i dont think he's doing much business over the web anymore.

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
