Yep I remember that, a mate of mine did similar - well more the doing mid 10s and 400kw on a stock motor (with just pump gas, no nitrous oxide, I must add) thing that the crowing and being banned thing :)

This car has flawless victory, however:

that thing is beautiful to watch, so smooth and unbelievably fast...its obviouslly well set up and a powerglide does help i guess but all I can say is....I WANT ONe!!!

I assume the only weak point for now is the HG and if that goes I'll replace it on mine, if for some reason it's more terminal than that then I'll likely throw another stocker in its place...

The NEO is a tough bit of gear and I hope it holds up

Agree. If I were running a NEO at your level I would swap it out for a stocker once it failed. If I had more than 2 let go I would consider building from there. In the end you could go through 4 or 5 stockers before you reach the cost of building one properly.

Building a motor and only going for 300-400 seems like kind of a waste though

The problem with it is, the motor is still susceptible to any one of so many failure points just like a stocker. Just takes one bit of carelessness or bad luck and then you have a very bad time. Seems like going "all in" in poker.

Hence I give props to anyone with the balls and inclination to push a built motor.

Exactly!

And it seems the Nissan seal of approval seems to hold together longer than a lot of "Builds" you see these days........

Agree with you both guys. I built my SR as the cost to me doing all the work myself was about the cost of two stockers anyway, so it was well justified. Plus I'm hoping to see more than what a stock SR will reliably do in the long run anyway.

Good tuning and good fuel makes a big difference. When that thread was started E85 wasn't really available (and still isn't practical for lots of us today).

Ethanol Content Sensor plus a decent ECU. There really is no argument of "it ain't close to me so I can't run E85" anymore.

In my case with two cars already set up and working pretty well the cost of buying a new ECU, bigger injectors, ethanol sensor and tuning does still make it impractical especially if the nearest E85 is 20-30mins away.

On a clean install I wouldn't muck around and just go for it.

What turbo would you guys recommend for a rb25 running e85.

Track car only!
1000cc injectors

power fc

z32

cam gears

profec 2 boost controller

3.5 inch exhaust

Front mount

Goal is for 8th mile drags!!

So need response and huge mid range performance

dont have a power goal just as fast as i can get down the 8th mile!

Any ideas ?

Been awhile since i posted on sau .The neo out me drift car let go a couple of months ago running 320 rwkw BUT beleive this had nothing to do with the power im under the impression it pumped all the oil into the head and then left the bottom end dry spinning the bearing and chucking a rod.

So got another standard neo to go back in its place this time it will be reciving some oil restrictors a head drain and a 7.5l gated sump to hopefully over come the oiling issuse .

Also thinking of changing over to e85 see what itll make hopefully add some more reliability to it aswell.

Ouch :O

Ouch :O

This happend on the skid pan after about 3 mins of 5000 -limeter of third. So it was under some hard conditions.see how the new engine holds up and see what it can make with some fruit juice

Well that explains a bit ;) Nice one haha

i'd say your diagnosis is spot on then! lol

RB's without custom drains and restrictors don't like 3+ minutes of limiter much at all hahaha

Just broke into the 300kw bracket....

R33 Series 2

mods:ViPec ECU

Haltech Flex Sensor

GT3076r .82 Low mount, Internally gated

APR head Studs

Metal Head Gasket

3" turbo back exhaust

Walbro 400L pump

Tomei Cams

740 Nismo Injectors

fuel:E85
power: 450hp [335kw] on 24psi
oil: Motul 20W-50
useage: Used to be daily, making its way to cruiser status
lifespan: had it for 4yrs, bought stock as a rock.
failure: Had head problems in the past when running 350hp on pump98
comments: Gains for E85 was 105hp over my Pump power of 346hp on 20psi.

Next mods will probably be new clutch, injectors & External Fuel setup

Why the upgrade of the injectors and fuel setup? Is it on the limit?

Why the upgrade of the injectors and fuel setup? Is it on the limit?

Injectors are reaching their limit for E85, I upgraded my fuel pump tihs week from a walbro 255 to 400 to handle the E85. More of a bandaid till i have the $$ for a full external setup.

255 fuel pump was maxing out with the car makeing 405hp and a mix of 70% pump98 and 30% E85. to get the full benefits of e85 it needed changing

With the Haltech sensor i can now run any blend of pump to E85 i like and the tune will change accordingly.

Very surprised by overall gains

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
