"OEM RB25DET piston ringlands - built to be busted"

Since having mine built with strong internals and running big boost I've found a large interest in wide competition style rear rubber!

CMS Drifter , you got the easy job! I've gotta PAY for the whole thing

About half way now , engine out (thanx CMS) & fully pulled down. All gaskets , bearings and belts here , pistons & rod bolts arrive Monday . The block gets bored and decked this week before going to Perth to be "O"ringed , and while I'm there , drop off the stall converter & pick up my new rods:D

Getting Keen Now!

Take one fully functional R33 making 280rwhp constantly,

add One Hi-Flowed steel wheeled turbo,

spool boost briskly to exactly 15psi (note: you should be able to smell the rich aroma of "Smoked" 265's at this stage)

You will notice a flury of detonation as the boost spools up ,

Now this is the important part..... carefully remove your Brain and place it heavilly

on your right foot ,

add to this the classic Aussie "She'll be right" &

Ta Da.... You have successfully Shot the dipstick ( oil Not driver) out of the sump due to the massive crankcase presssure caused by broken ring lands!!!!!

If you've done this right , the cab will fill with clouds of choking smoke with just a hint of anal discharge :fart:

See the illistrations below......Happy RB25 Cooking :)

Crap you have just described my driving method.

Troy Rep.

:Bang:
Hmm nice. The GTR rods are heavier than RB25 so even though I lightened the flywheel I noticed there was only a slight improvement response wise.

Gav , the RB26 rods will do me  They can more than handle the 250rwkw I'm chasing.& are cost effective compared to aftermarket items.

B-man , I only killed 1 piston outright.....couple of others had cracked ring lands...& no.5 dropped the spark plug!!(still haven't found that!)

Morgs ,is there a place on the web that your not on?

Pistons & rod bolts arrived today! :)

what would the ARP bolts come in at?

When I put mine together I had one that wouldn't accept the torque required and it started to neck, so I found most had been seriously stretched when I measured them, about 3-4 mm.

New RB26 bolts from Nissan cost about $180 from memory and had to come from 3 different places to make the set. Even so they pack then in fives...morons...and wanted me to pay overnight freight for the last 2 AND they sent me lawnmower bolts the first time.

At least they sent the cutest parts runner around with the last delivery :D. But she was blonde and wanted me to pay for them again...AAARRRGHHH...save us from Nissan Aust.

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
