haven't seen a thread about this on here?? if there is, mods please delete and guide me to the thread lol

*stolen from ns.com*

I'm quite surprised that this hasn't been raised on here yet, maybe it has, i haven't seen it, but eventually it will affect every modified vehicle owner.

In NSW around December 2nd the RTA killed off the Engineers certificate scheme, so that means anyone who has previously paid big dollars to get their car engineered, well, its worthless now. The RTA is looking into bringing in a new scheme for regulations to modify cars

i cant be bothered explaining it all, you can find info on it all over the net, but basically it would mean RTA inspection even if you upgrade your rims, do any lowering at all to your car, upgrade the brakes, essentially ANY modification must be approved by the RTA only. No more dodgy engineers certificates.

Now Street machine had a MASSIVE spread on the whole issue, and street machine mag, Hot 4's, and alot of custom car, Hot rod, 4wd etc had a massive get together with the RTA and the police to discuss the impact it will have.

My friend went and said it was a waste of time, they opened the floor to Q & A, and alot of questions were responded with "we cant answer that legally at the moment"

Now i don't know if performance imports mag was in on this, because i havn't bought it in awhile, does anyone know if we had some involvement or support for this issue.

here are some links about it. mainly look at the 2nd link, i think it has all the information on there.

oh and here is a youtube link aswell to the meeting:

Face it, .you're all baby klling criminals.. Everybody knows that getting new rims is a gateway mod, before you know it you start smoking rubber, then you keep getting on the gas, then start injecting rocket fuels brewed up in flthy backyard garage labs..

Maybe it is time for a newer greener australia so when the world smothers itself to death in the filth we have created, Australia can stand up proudly and say... "I didnt do it, it was them"..In the meantime we will keep digging great big holes all over our country to fuel their fires that turn our dirt into plastic, then we can buy it back from them to build the leg we will need to stand on...

end

The way parliamentary procedure used to carry on is this...

After a motion is passed, there still have to be two readings before upper house ratifies a law.

Until it's law all engineering certificates would remain valid.

And from our end, until the 2nd reading people would need to muster support to place a decent set of objections I think.

Objections might include loss of income, loss of job etc

The support base would need to include a cohesive unit of CAMs, car clubs, Repco, Auto Barn, Auto One, Bob Jane and other Wheel Shops, Bilstein and other Suspension Shops, Better Brakes and other Brake Shops, MTA, Just Car, Lumleys SV, Shannon's & maybe even the NRMA.

The government has to make sure not to hurt people and their families with overkill. Can you imagine how many millions of dollars are spent by enthusiasts each year to support the above industries?

Now how do all the above groups and businesses become mobilised?

Car clubs will do a great service to the government and public perception if we can convince all road users that we teach good useful skills to our members!

Im an expert at being defected for my Mods despite having them Engineered. ALL of them! Including EPA, RTA, and DECC inspected and approved, even my rego sticker has a code to match the mod approvals from RTA yet I am still able to be defected because as the charming most professional cops say " we dont think it should comply and if you disagree take it to court" So what good is an ENG Cert really!!!! Waste of money. As for the validity of my Eng Cert, paper work, approvals, written in gold, signed sealed and stamped by every nation on the globe by law….. the RTA have said that all pre existing engineering certs issued prior to 22nd Dec 2011 WILL be honored BUT the car cannot be modded pretty much AFTER that date. I dont see wtf all of this shit means really anyways when one can still be defected by the Police for doing the right thing. I guess in one sense , when I take my car into get the defects removed, the mechanics see the paper work and clear the defect/s where as without the paper work that wouldn't happen.

How True is that! spot on!

Wow that's ridiculous move to Queensland where no body cares about cars as much it's absolutely stupid yeah defect cars with chopped springs and bald tyres but there going way over the top with all of this crap

Guys its all BS, four of my mates have gotten their cars engineered recently and have had no problems. Its just crap that one person makes up and it spreads everywhere.

DId I watch the wrong video, or did none of you actually watch it and instead decided to have a rant instead?

This guy is talking about making it easier for ICV and other vehicle modifications to be certified.

I watched it, I listened

Seriously don't drive like a tosser don't get smart accept the minimum defect with is usually tires keep quiet and half the time they won't go

Further with defects unless you get smart works most the time :)

Here is how to beat a defect step one purchase a t88 turbo and metal head gasket up the boost with better injectors and a tune have a different address on your license and rego make sure u have 600 hp and no trace of your new address when coming into a road block rip the hand brake and snap a 180 and floor it have a digital scanner tuned into police radio ah see boys we will be fine hahahaha only joking

    • Will have a look at that. I cant see any leaks
    • Put another overflow bottle (ie, a 1.25 coke bottle or similar) under the overflow hose and see if it is being pushed out there or if it is disappearing into the engine.
    • Staring on a stand is no issue. You just have to wire everything up, give it fuel and cross your fingers that the stand is robust enough. Arranging the inlet plumbing is often the hardest part, without any surrounding structure to hand some of it from. No need for coolant if you only want to run it for <1 minute. As to the gearbox - I think the little Aisin box is a bit stronger than the other small Nissan boxes that went behind SRs, but I wouldn't be too keen to test its limits with the torque of a boosted 25. I don't know if you can retain the box and the tailshaft. The box won't connect to the RB without an adapter of some sort, which is either a plate that will push the engine forward (which is not good for fitting it into the bay's available space) or push the box back, which messes with the box position and tailshaft length - OR - cut and shut work on the bellhousing, which is a long way from "least modification". I'd be buying a new 370Z 6 speed or similar, doing what has to be done to that to make it fit RB (ie, cut and shut bellhousing) and the requisite tailshaft custom/mods.
    • Hi Everyone I am from West Pennant Hills in NSW. Been too busy until recently to attend to my RB25DET Series 2 engine until recently. I am planning to stick it into the S15 shell at this stage, unless a nice SR20DET turns up... For now, i am going to try and get the RB25 running and working well then decide what gearbox to use. My preference is to retain the SR20DET  6 speed gearbox and tail shaft to retain as much and least modifications as i can avoid. I am an old guy and won't be doing any heavy drifting so i don't need a bullet proof gearbox Does anyone have experience with starting the RB on a stand? I got everything setup as much as I can with the info i can find... endless searching and videos on Youtube I would be great to get some pointers Cheers Songo
    • Hey all, Recently have had my s1 r33 gtr serviced and noticed my coolant reservoir was topped up to the max line. Took the car out for 1 yesterday and noticed today the reservoir is completely empty.  Any ideas? Radiator is full
