I realized after I tested it that I used 1M ohm that was meant for the z32 ecu and then saw in the write up on here that it was supposed to be 500k ohm. My next question is even with the 1M ohm it idled fine at lower temperatures. It didn't start running rich until it was warmed up. Do the knock maps not activate until the engine has reached a certain temperature?

Nissan ecu's do weird things to play with our heads.

Yeah I was saying that the ECU's are sensetive and little changes can make them go crazy. And I was also getting at the fact that putting resistors in place of the knock sensors may be causing problems. Either plug them directly into the knock sensors or run nothing at all, but your computer will always see knock = 0

Unplugged will have extremely high resistance as its open loop circuit.

Plugged in if the knock sensor is faulty will give an abnormal reading also.

The ecu needs to see ~517kohm resistance otherwise it will think there is knock or a faulty sensor and trigger a safe mode or

I did check the resistance on the knock sensors and they were around 500K without the car running. I have no idea what they are reading when it is running. Hopefully my Nistune board will come in the next few days and I can confirm that it is going into the limp home map.

Actually, they are just piezo microphones essentially, and send a frequency signal to the ECU. The ECU has a whole section (was a whole daughterboard on the Type 2 ECUs like R32) for decoding the signal received and deciding if it is knock or not.

Ok thanks. Yes the type 2 boards have a knock board. Are u 100% sure that they out put a frequency on all the nissan knock sensors? I have not researched this

either way if he is getting a nistune it should help the problem.

To OP, what sort of fuel is available over there? perhaps that has something to do with it as well? I'm not 100% sure, but I think the Nth American fuel is not overly fantastic. Perhaps the combination of the mods and a poor octane rated fuel is causing the problems.

Just a thought anyway. Nistune should be a goer

I'm using close to the equivalent of 98 RON. I got my Nistune license today and the board was shipped out so hopefully I get it by the weekend. I also found a thread by wlspn and he was producing the same injector times that I was at idle. I sent him a pm and his setup was almost the same as mine but he was using a larger turbo. I'm pretty confident that it is going into limp mode and maybe the Nistune can identify the problem so I can fix it or change the tune if need be.

    • Jack the back of the car up, pull that wheel off, pull that sensor out, and put a bore scope into the hole to inspect the outer casing, see if anything looks damaged before you pull the whole thing apart.
    • Ergh... So I pulled the speed sensor out again and the tip was shiny so I think it's rubbing the bearing. The bearing contains the magnets for the speed sensor so I think when the first sensor broke it damaged the magnet ring on the bearing.  This is just a Google image, but there is a hole going to the bearing. So when the tip broke off the old sensor I'm guessing it fouled the bearing... As the magnet is only protected by a plastic cover it would be easy to damage it. So I guess I'm doing a bearing again.   
    • My thinking is that if the O2 sensor is shot then your entire above described experience is pure placebo.
    • Here is the mess that I made. That filler there was successful in filling dents in that area. But in the middle area. I can feel dents. And I've gone ocer it multiple times with filler. And the filler is no longer there because i accidently sanded it away. I've chased my tail on this job but this is something else lol. So I'm gonna attempt filler one more time and if it doesn't work I'll just high fill primer the door and see where the issues are because guidecoat is of no use atm.
    • Ok, so I think I sort of figured out where I went wrong. So I definitely overthinked it, and I over sanded, which is probably a large part of the problem. to fix it, I ended up tapping some spots that were likely to be high, made them low, filled them in, and I tackled small sections at a time, and it feels a lot better.    I think what confused me as well is you have the bare metal, and some spots darker and some are lighter, and when I run my finger across it, it' would feel like it's a low spot, but I think it's just a transition in different texture from metal to body filler.    When your finger's sliding on the body filler, and crosses over to the bare metal, going back and forth, it feels like it's a low spot. So I kept putting filler there and sanding, but I think it was just a transition in texture, nothing to do with the low or high spot. But the panel's feels a lot better, and I'm just going to end up priming it, and then I'll block it after with guide coat.   Ended up wasting just about all of my filler on this damn door lol
