Hi guys,

Just noticed that my front left outer cv boot is cracked so I need to replace the boot before I damage the cv itself...can I do this myself as I cannot work out how to stretch over the cv boot onto the shaft without tearing it.

Yeah there is 2 ways to do them, either remove the CV clean it and replace the boot OR use that yellow cone tools and actually fit the boot on the car, the old workshop i worked for had one but TBH if it cost $25 i would have paid someone to do it as its a greasy shi77y job :P

you would only fit the boot on the car if you were replacing a non split boot.

once the boot is split and driven around..you must remove, strip and clean then repack with new boot. Otherwise you run the risk of leaking dity in there which will destroy the CV's after a while

I can't get the outer 36mm cv nut off, I've snapped 2 extension bars and I also have a manual impact driver which you whack with a hammer...no chance :(

Looks like I'll be dropping it off at my workshop

Job done. The boot had a 1mm pinch and from that, it made a huge mess (looks like something hit it like the end of a spanner). The actual boot was the genuine Nissan boot and it was still like new, no cracks or age at all.

Kerosene all the suspension parts and inside the wheel, nice and clean the way I like it :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Was this for front or rear axle? I am looking for the parts (boot kit) for an R33 GTR front inner and outer CV boot kit, you don't happen to have the part numbers you used do you? or where to buy them if there is a Vendor or shop on here?

    • Plan on the day will be to park trackside. Depending on space availability we will try put a small shade tent and a few of the cars on top of the hill inside turn 3, this is an easy to get to parking area with views of Turn 2, Turn 3, Turn 4 and Turn 5 and limited other pieces of the view around the track. IMPORTANT NOTE! One consideration from previous years is from memory the trackside parking sells out before the admission tickets, for that reason I encourage anyone planning on coming to buy tickets for parking now via the official website; https://www.worldtimeattack.com/ The type of parking you are looking for is 2 Day Park & View (Access Around Venue) Vehicle Pass Only Please note this does not include admission to the event itself, remember to grab that also, and kids under 12 get in for free!

    • Good time for a carbon roof
    • Not in any way aroused by any of those, except maybe the big AMGs. And that would break my never a Euro, ever, rule.
