That first one (if it was usmair or whatever), didn't come close to the MPH to back it up, in fact the MPH showed it has zero gain, where the "dyno" said there was 40rwkw...

I'd like to see Trent's result hit the strip and pump out a MPH.

As with a few other people on here actually... It seems some have pretty "hefty" increases that seem to defy what everyone else are getting.

(not having a go at anyone here either, just wanna see more info).

tbh i retune around 3 e85 cars a week from other shops (please understand i dont mean all just some) and tbh some tuners still dont understand E85, we generally get a gain every time. we dont do drag cars (i have 0 intrest in drag) but EVERYTIME the owner will better their PB at any given circuit track.

70-80% of our tuning is now e85 so we live and breath it daily, some cars dont get the benefits but many do, the cars that do are the ones limited on 98 by a fundamental element not turbo sizing and -7's fall smack bang in this category. S15 are another good example 220rwkw on the std turbo up from 195rwkw is a common result.... normally restricted by a so called too small a turbo.... 11% increase on such a small output is super impressive.

Generally a GTR making 310-315 will always make 340-350 on e85 with no increase in boost if tuned correctly (providing there are no intake or exhaust bottlenecks). The basic rule of this extra power is the same rules that gain power on 98.

i know we are getting legit results just by the numbers in the mapping, anyone who understands the fuel will know what im referring too.

Ash im happy to show you in person where these other tunes are falling short. i have all the saved maps from the cars im referring too.

Also if anyone is not getting the results they should im more than happy to view their ecu file and give feedback on why they havent got the results.

what setup and ecu?

Runs a power fc, -5's, built engine, full exhaust, fuel system etc. All supporting mods really, I can't think of anything major its missing. This was on a dyno dynamics. To be honest it feels way more than 12kw increase, it's a beast now I'm happy with it (except from blowing the gearbox last night) I just find some other results are much higher.

what comp? and where are the cam gears set to? also what a/f boost and ignition timing does it hold at target boost? -5 tend to still make power up at 26-28psi

Just an update on mine... -9s on e85

when I took it to the strip and ran 11.7 it had a pretty big boost leak

this was confirmed when I took it Unigroup's dyno day and I make 315kw (on a hot day). Yavuz said on a cool day it would make around 330kw. He also confirmed that there was definitely a boost leak somewhere.

I put on hard pipe kit on (did it myself) but there is still a leak. I took it to PowerTune on saturday to see if it made a difference.

We did 3 power runs... all three made 332-335kw (this was the same dyno that gave me the 370kw reading). so i think the unigroup vs powertune numbers are comparable.

There is a big screech and a boost leak. the dyno shows boost dropping from 24 to 22psi.

I've left the car with PowerTune and they will fix the leak hopefully this week.

Then its back to WSID!!

I agree with your comment of 310kw to 340kw. But 310 to a increase of 370 is huge for a same boost application

Its not the same its running more boost 18psi on pump 98 vs 22psi on e85.

i also stated anything over 22psi netted no more peak power.

I don't know any of the above atm, didn't really pay too much attention to it or look into it. What do you think it should be making with what iv got? Dyno figure is one thing but it goes so much better on the road for only a 12kw increase, I don't know

if your happy then dont stress :) just drive it.

Any E85 is reliable mate tune your car to the fuel you use. I tuned my car with the caltex E85 & my car has never missed a beat! Dunno if this is true or not but I think caltex has more servos selling this stuff so id be more inclined to tune on that stuff as its more readily available.

As for 370kw on -7's id say not likely at all I would think even -9's on E85 would struggle to hit 370kw

How do you tune for Caltex eflex? Is it an E70 & E85 tune?

As for 370kw, Status posted up a dynograph and mentioned a few cars were achieving it unless I misread it :S

Not all are that amazing! Besides, i hope you guys will be running ethanol sensors. Rather tune on a link (or similar) and fill up as you go without worrying about the ethanol content

Your sig is even better, picked up 9mph going to Eflex? Solid effort mate.

Link? I have a ViPEC if you are referring to the ECU. And why would I need an ethanol sensor if I only plan on running e85?

    • Bit of an update to this one. Having some issues on the dyno that held us back (boost spiking) and I want to pass some info over you guys and see what you think is wrong with my setup. The current readout on this dyno is 462rwkw on a low reading dyno so keep in mind it is a real world 500rwkw setup on a hub dyno. Don't read into the power figure too much as a sign of the issue. The short and curly of it is: 2.8 Litre Racepace build RB25 NEO N/A Head with VCT (internally standard however ) Borgwarner EFR 8474  Turbosmart 50mm Straight Gate + Mac valve 6Boost Manifold 4" dump to full 4" exhaust (nil restrictions) Wastegate plumbed back in and all angles in the exhaust system are acceptable and not too sharp. GFB SV52 BOV in cooler piping  Turbosmart BOV in EFR Housing   The issue we are having is it comes onto full boost for example at 4000rpm and spikes to 24/25psi, before dropping down to 17psi before slowly rising back up to the target boost of 23psi. It was extremely uncontrollable and the tuner actually had to ramp in boost progrssively with each 1000rpm on each boost setting we selected to try and reduce the amount of spiking. Sometimes we would see a drop of 10psi from the peak at the beginning of the run, to the low, until it took the next 500-1000rpm to stabilise back up to the target boost. The tuner is pretty confident that the straight gate is just a poorly designed product and leaks too much boost upon cracking the gate open and theres no way to fix it other than going to a poppet valve. He's also confient theres no ignition breakdown or floating valves. The fueling is extremely stable as well. Turbo speed is somewhere around the 109,000rpm area. The spanner in the works for me is that prior to this Borgwarner and StraightGate, the car was tuned on -5 twins at a diferent tuner, and he also had issues controlling the boost with it spiking around the same rpm range, so to me this sounds like the same issue and it can't be anything on the turbo side as this was all changed and I think the behaviour is extremely similar, if not the same. We also removed the mac valve and did a run on wastegate pressure and it still spiked and had the same behaviour. My thoughts on possibilities are: Boost Leak VCT Cam Gear isn't reliably activating consistently - (On this however, we did a run with the VCT disabled and the boost still spiked) Turbosmart BOV is not handling the boost? However this seems unlikely to not be able to handle 20psi. I have a couple of logs that I can't make sense of if anybody knows how to read them and can obtain further logs of other parameters if they are not enough, happy to pay for anyones time. The dyno readout with the power figure is the most recent last week. The other picture is from two weeks prior to that where we couldn't break 400kw (we removed the cat), however the issue of the boost control persisted. @Lithium @Piggaz @burn4005 @GTSBoy @discopotato03 I've tagged those that were quite active in recent pages here, no disrespect to those that know turbos well but I missed tagging. Cheers
    • I recently purchased a 2018 Infiniti Q60, which has an SD card navigation map. I can see my system has options for real time traffic updates etc, and am wondering if there is something I can purchase to get this working? I can see there are at least updated maps for USA and Canada, but nothing for Australia. Surely Infiniti took changing road systems and city expansions into account when they decided to use an inbuilt navigation over Android Auto/Apple Car Play, or are we doomed to drive on streets that don't exist in the navigation system if you drive to a new area?
    • Luckily I didn't put in etch primer as I just found out it's not compatible with my body filler lol. Also just need to sand the panel anywhere between 150-400 grit so I'm in the clear there. It does say to not apply to soft old paint, I assume that means paint that is flaking, peeling, etc
    • @dbm7 and @GTSBoy thank you both very much! will give that a shot!
