BOOSTBIG
Hey guys im new here just a quick question. my r33 gtst is blowing a lot of white smoke. it would literately fill my whole street full of smoke. I have taken it to ultratune and they have done a compression and leak test and it came back ok. they are learning more towards a turbo issue. but they are still unsure. is this a common thing for skylines? if it is indeed a turbo issue they are going to upgrade to a high flow garret turbo, which leads me to my next question. how much power is this thing going to output once its installed? specs of car Front mount intercooler pod air fillter full hks exhaust boost controller and the garret high flow turbo. thanks guys. tripsteady
lol seems like youve done ur bpu , so OBVIOUSLY depending on how many pounds you are running , id say anywhere from 200 - 230rwkw. youd also need to get a tune though to get this kind of power safely Yes white smoke is usually a turbo issue if its a large amount of white smoke and the compression test came out ok. joeyjoejoejuniorshabadoo
so any more info on the turbo? might be a good idea to do some research on here before you spend that much coin. every turbo will have a different result and will make the car perform very differently Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/405468-r33-gtst-blowing-white-smoke-plus-car-potential/#findComment-6483262 Share on other sites
BOOSTBIG
so any more info on the turbo? might be a good idea to do some research on here before you spend that much coin. every turbo will have a different result and will make the car perform very differently Hey buddy Its my standard turbo high flowed with garret internals. cost me $1500 still need it tuned on the dyno. not sure if I need a new ecu? cant really afford anything after spending 8grand I just hope my mechanic wasnt taking me for a ride. just seems so exsessive...I mean, 8 grand? drove the car all weekend to run in the new pistons. didn't boost hard, but I can already feel the car is alot more punchier and responsive. will update soon. any advice is appreciated guys Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/405468-r33-gtst-blowing-white-smoke-plus-car-potential/#findComment-6484299 Share on other sites
Hadouken
My advice, before you start asking questions that have been asked many times before, use the search function and google. Your hi flowed turbo wont make that power and yes you need a ecu! BOOSTBIG
Damn I cant afford a new ecu I literraly have 200 bucks to my name there is no way I can get away with the stock ecu? just until I can save up enough money for a new ecu. Hadouken
I think the best thing for you would be to leave the boost low and dont give the car a hard time until you can get it tuned Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/405468-r33-gtst-blowing-white-smoke-plus-car-potential/#findComment-6484415 Share on other sites
BOOSTBIG
My mechanic said he is going to try his best to tune it with the stock ecu. he said the car is still going to be pretty quick as it is. he is a professional drag racer so Id like to think I can trust him. he seems like an awesome guy though. will save up for ecu later down the track Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/405468-r33-gtst-blowing-white-smoke-plus-car-potential/#findComment-6484615 Share on other sites
Hadouken
But you cant tune the stock ecu! You can get a piggy back ecu or nistune. And that is the closest youll get to a programmable "stock" ecu!
