Is there any way yet to tune or chip an ECU for a S1 Stagea RS4 ?

Could a S2 ECU from an R33GTST-4 auto ECU fit ? , both have attessa and both are 4WD Auto , but S1 Stagea ECU CANNOT be Chipped ! .

Can S1 or S2 R33 ECU be chipped or Tuned ? , I can get a plug to suit the replacement ECU and wire into the S1 Stagea loom but need to find an ECU with Attessa - Auto and Turbo .

I have a Mines S1 NONE Turbo ECU that dose work well on the Turbo S1 Stagea , BUT IT CUTS OUT on deceleration ! bloody dangerous !!! .

Any help or suggestions welcome , even thoughts !

Not doing the Manual conversion ! have GTR for that ..

would consider the Tiptronic but suspect that wiring ( steering wheel gearchange , etc. ) would be a pain in the rear .

Engine will be forged - running steel upgrade turbo - FMIC - 370 flow pump -Adjustable FPR - 475cc injectors .

The short answer is not while its an auto.

Swapping the S2 gearbox and ecu has been looked at a few times but its too hard... it would probably be cheaper and definitely easier to sell the car and buy a S2.

The ecu from an R33Gst4 won't fit and can't be tuned anyway. The Mines ecu will not be suitable either.

Toshi on this forum may be able to supply a daughterboard that will accept a chip that he can make but it won't be readily tunable - he will have to make a new chip each time (sorry just noticed you're in the UK so not an option).

The best solution at this stage for a S1 auto is the Greddy E-manage (or an HKS F-Con if you have anyone near you who can fit and tune one).

You will need something like that if you plan to run 475 injectors and a high flow - you will probably also need a Z32afm and you won't need an adjustable FPR.

You should probably also be looking at a set of GTT brakes.

Thanks for that , got a Greddy E-manage blue - but did not fancy the wiring ! bugger .

z32 MAF seems more popular than the Q45 . in price too .

V spec Brembos - piranha discs - project MU pads already fitted SAVED MY LICENCE A few times .

Would love to trade up to S2 but I have a 32 GTR as well .. and the cost of an S2 is 3 times what i paid for the S1 + I have fitted fully adjustable suspension and arms front and rear - even with the rust I have become attached to its ugly green arse , front is OK as is Nismo though

s2 rear lights liven it up a bit

how attached to the awd are you? considered a rwd conversion with a stand-alone ecu? (some may be able to run the auto)

or maybe send an email to the nistune guys and see what they can offer you?

UK , need 4WD and dont want to replace tyres every weekend !!!! ;) found a JECS S2 ECU but in Japan and he wants $300 ! , then i would need a nistune board so i may just bite the bullet and wire in Blue greedy ..

pinouts will be different on that ecu anyway (wont plug in)

do we know if the long pin plug on the S2 stagea , that goes into the ECU , is the same as R34 / R33 / R32 ? ( longer and blue )

Looks like i have the unique shorter grey pin plug , same as Maxima and Altima ( US market )

R32 and R33 have two rows of pins. R34 has three rows.

S1 Stagea ecu has 3 rows of pins but is internally similar to R33 ecu but not the same and has the auto ecu inside it. Do you have a pinout diagram for your S1 ecu? (S2 ecu won't work).

  • 3 weeks later...

KiwiRS4T , no i dont have a pin out diagram but it is 3 rows of pins and has a grey plug and grey receptor in ecu , it is seperted by lugs to locate the plug , 2 lugs 1 side and 3 lugs the other side of the middle fixing screw .

Do you know why S2 is different - tiptronic/auto and RB/NEO is the obvious ?

2B honest i am thinking that a piggy back is best , so a pin out diagram would be useful ....

Greddy E-Manage is probably the best known (HKS F-Con is better but less well known outside of Japan)'

S1 ecu is a Hitachi and very different from the S2 Jecs

Sorry to hijack. I have a F-Con Gold that came out from an R34 GTT and i am wondering if it would be suited to the Series 1 260RS ECU?

nistune would be better for you i'd say

260rs ecu's are different to regular auto s1's, pretty sure they'd be rb26 ecu's

i think with r32 ecu and o2 sensors you can run a nistune

It will be fine (since you already have it) so long as you have an HKS F-con tuner nearby!!
