Ok some quick questions

This is all i know about the N1:

"ALL N1 VEHICLES HAVE STRONGER BLOCK, STRONGER CONRODS, STRONGER PISTONS, LARGER STEEL WHEEL TURBOCHARGERS, NO AIR CONDITIONING, LARGE OIL COOLER, DIFFERENT WATER PUMP, DIFFERENT OIL PUMP, QUICK RATIO STEERING RACK, AND NUMEROUS OTHER SMALL CHANGES"

Also they didn't come with a radio or air con (???)

How much would they be worth over here and is there anything else different about them?

The block, conrods and pistons are meant to be stronger but there is no evidence that indicates it is the case. The block number is different to that of any other rb26. The turbos are the same size but have steel wheels.

Larger oil cooler - this is not true since a normal gtr doesn't have a oil cooler at all however there is a huge nismo oil cooler. The suspension is also apparently slightly tweeked so the ride is a little firmer.

No radio thus no antenna, no air con, less sound deadening, no rear windscreen wiper, no vanity mirror, carbon fibre rear wing and front carbon fibre undertray etc.

They were only released in white.

IMO they should be around a $15-20k premium over a normal V-spec, that is if u can find one.

that is if u can find one.

:( - good stinking luck finding one, you'd be better off trying to find an R34 GTR N1.

Its a pure track car, so only necesities, hence the no air con, radio etc...

Christian

Ive been looking for a V-spec at the japanese auctions for ages and managed to get a white N1 yesterday with 80000 on the clock, probably land it for around the 36G mark.  Ended up going fairly cheap, now just going to have to put the air con in!

Who is doing the compliance in WA for it and why would you buy an N1 and THEN put the aircon back in.

Think you might find that's a bigger job than you think as I would suggest the wiring isn't even in the harness.

Paul Rogers ( ex Wildcats ) had an N1 but sold it to a local guy over here. It was at Barbagallos and they were asking around 60K but that was a few years ago.

cheers

Ken

You wont need aircon in Canberra... at a guess id say the current temperature is well under 15 degrees :( and in summer it doesnt get overly hot, and if it does, just wind your window down :)

If you want the car to have aircon, why not just go for a R33 GTR V-spec? Its no N1, and you wont have a swish build plate, but you will have a car better suited for daily driving (which is the impression that rubs off on me if you need aircon)

But thats just my $0.02 ;)

Im interested in other peoples opinions so thanks guys, this car will rarely be my daily driver, more like a weekend car, basically i want it to have all the good things interior and exterior.

Yeah i could have bought a V-spec but this is a rarer car that has better go fast stuff (and also i got it cheaper than id been bidding on normal V-specs), ive got more money to play with if things go wrong or i dont like how something is set up.

Knore, not sure if it was overly raced or even at all as most of the other stuff on it was fairly standard - im sure i'll find out, if im too worried i'll just get an ASWN warranty.

Which brings me to my next question, if its been raced what stuff would normally be the first to go, given the internals have been somewhat strengthened?

Only reason i said that is because if something does break and requires an actuall N1 Vspec part then look out for the prices!!

Try and get it atleast dynod so you can see the power and air fuel ratios etc

I honestly wouldnt be buying this unless i was certain

hmm, just my opinion and its probably been said before.

but why pay the extra $20K or something to get an N1?

when u could get a V spec and with that $20K spend it on bettering a N1?

particularly if you are not going to race it?

like for a few $$$ you could upgrade to aftermarket turbos, fit an exhaust if it doesn't already have one, intercooler etc etc.. you could get those Volk TE37s that you wanted but cos you forked out all that more for the car and couldn't afford

and i am sure if you really want there is copies of the carbon under trays/ diffusers

or better yet you could put that $20K as a deposit down on a house

Well im getting it over here for only 36G!  Thats everything, stamp duty, tyres the lot, so theres a risk its been flogged but hey money fixes most things

I agree - for that money, it is worth getting! who here would knock back an actual N1 at that money?!?!?

Burto, if you end up getting it and come to Canberra, get the air con!! Nik, don't you remember how hot is was last summer!!! I would not have a car without fridgeability...

I imagine you can get the N1 complied the same as a standard R33 GTR.

sounds like a good price, congratulations, although, unlike what someone else said, i you will find that the N1 turbos are larger than the standard ones, they come on boost approx 500-800rpm later than the stock ones, making them similar to hks 2530's.

I know this for sure (im not just repeating something ive read on the forum) as i just rode in a friends car who recently fitted N1s.

    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
    • Final update!!! Got the front bar fitted and sprayed and all sorted now. My cutouts worked great and the indicators aren’t just falling off. 😂
    • Is this a brand new LSD? if so, have you followed any break/bed in procedure for it? Usually involves heaps of figure 8 patterns, a fluid flush.
    • It's TWO steering wheels actually. 😛 one for each hand They are wheels, and they steer!
