Hey guys/girls. Im looking to buy a r33 gtr in a couple of months time, but i searched everywhere and i just cannot find reviews on the car, Plenty on the r32 and the r34 but not on the r33. So i thought this being a skyline forum it would be a good place to start by owners gving me reviews on the car. Just general information:

Performance

handling

Reliability

And so on..

Any help would be muchly appricated, thanks!.

Thats 1 review...What i said above, i didn't literally mean there are no reviews (sorry if i was missleading) but there are very few reviews is what i was ment to say. These is just not many going around from what i have seen, not enough to make an informed dession anyway....

ha yeh thought that didn't sound right^^... Yeh i know but would just like some back round info from owners/peoples experinces. IMHO the r32 is a bit old and i dont feel like saving another year to get the r34 ;) i love both but the r33 fitted right in, love pretty much everything about it, its also in my price range and from what iv read it's better than the r32 ? but i could be wrong...

Google:- Motoharu Kurosawa R33 GT-R Nurburgring and particularly where he comments about the car (with subtitles).

IMHO, the R33 GT-R despite its longer wheelbase, is a brilliant car.

But be very selective when choosing and try out several

It might be best to obtain one right here on SAU F/S Section, where any past issues are probably ironed out already. Always check for rust (manifested through salted Japanes roads some time back).

What exactly do you want?

Why do you think so many people drive skylines? Coz they are f**king good!

They all handle well, they were made for it! You just need to get out there and make up your own mind, as it already seems you have.

Good point, not to sure reassurance i guess...

I personally thing the R34 is the best looking, but i do like the body of the R32 and it's size seems to be the smallest. At the end of the day, it's your decision not anyone elses. Everyone is going to say different things about each vehicle, it just depends what suits you best. As Paul says, get out there and try to drive all of them and make up your mind.

I think with the right rims and ride height, the R33 GTR can look as good as the R32 and R34. Have a look at the wheels magazine website. They used to have a section on GTRs, where they reproduced all the GTR they'd done over the years. There was one review in particular that pitted a R33 GTR Vspec vs HSV GTS-R vs E36 M3. You'll be unpleasantly surprised by the result ;-)

What are you going to use the car for ? Street only, track? What mods do you plan to do to it, how much are you willing to spend?

Without answers to the above your questions on "Performance, handling, reliability and so on" cant be answered.

The R33 is a good car, just like any other GTR out there.

thanks for all the imput!. It will be a street car but will visit tracks when its modified. I guess it will just be a long project adding things gradually over time :)

Of course, you can't expect to throw everything on it at once.. these things take time. Unless you have a butt-load of cash.

    • @Murray_Calavera iam just considering options 🙂 of course it is very expensive so that why i ask here 🙂  @joshuaho96 I looked at that GCG hybrid(i remember looking at it few weeks before) So this is "that" hybrid where i send them my turbo and they upgrade the inside to Garrett stuff and then they send it back. It cost around 1200-1300 USD which is FAR cheaper than the HKS and it is what iam looking for(i just do not have experience like this...to send something off to "upgrade" ) @tylink720 that is like 150 USD turbo no? 😄 I dont think i have the "ease on my mind" with this kind of turbo. I just put over 7000k USD to "LINK" up my engine...dont want to blow it up with cheap turbo 😄     EDIT: https://www.cj-motor.com/gcg-turbo-charger-for-nissan-rb20det-rb25det-high?srsltid=AfmBOooVeOZ6CZ6r1AIv5m-KPaa6BvudIPJTY8LW78khkd-gQlsaCht9 I looked at this and it seems ok? It is that CGC hybrid and it costs around 1250 USD (with back shipping). Do any of you have experience with this hybrid on NEO turbo? I quickly look thru the forum/web and it seems very good.

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
