Well after a RICE cruise last night where I had a nasty vibration in the rear end...almost sounded like a diff-clunk, driveline chatter..... well. I found out what it was!

Upon closer inspection of the rear-end, ie looking at diff's tailshafts etc... I jacked the car up to have a look underneath. Only to find my rear-left side wheel nuts were all LOOSE! (YES! Including the lock nut!) I was like WTF? So I tightened them up trev-strength-stylez, and thought I'd go take a look at the other side.. OMG TWO MISSING! Some theiving ARAB tried to steal my white enkei's!

My car was parked at City West undercover all day on friday, which it hardly ever is.. So I reckon it's some chumps around there. They must have been distracted/scared away as they only done half a job on either side. Who knows.. if it had gone the other way, my rims woulda been gone!

So just a warning to all you guys that have shit-hot rims, lock nuts mean F*** ALL, and be sure to check your rims if you've parked your car in a dodgy area!

kym, are they the "standard" lock nuts you can get from just about anywhere?

Nismo sell a special lock nut that comes with a special tool and I doubt many people here would have them. Thing is, any mechanic would have the correct tool to undo them ..

Good to hear you didn't loose your rims, thats what counts...

but yeah anyone can just hammer on a socket that is a tiny bit to small and use that to get the locknut off, or use a chisel etc...

only so much you can do... best is to park somewhere with high visibilty to people walking past, lots of lights etc... or dont park at all

Yeah.. I ain't leaving my car in any car park now!

*sigh* Yep. I had jap-spec lock nuts when I first got the car, and they were dam hard to get off.. I know this cos I lost the lock nut and failed to find a match for them. I had to replace them with the common-get-from-anywhere nuts!

$140+ for new nuts?! WTF! Might have to go sell my ass on the street corner for those mofo's! But hey, it'll be worth it!

The vibration is caused was pretty bad too, I just hope it hasn't done anymore damage (ie wheel bearings, shafts etc) I guess I'm lucky the wheel didn't come off and slice off the studs and rip out the rear-quart's!

wow close call

I had a neighbour with a HSV that wasnt so lucky (and these things come with 18s?)

and we live on mounts bay rd apartments! the car was parked in front of the lobby!

I came back after a night out at 2AM and saw his commodore on 4 bricks

which was kind of a funny sight hahah

the next morning he called the police and questioned a few of the tenants

apparently it was done around midnight.

oh the funny thing I almost forgot to mention,

apparently after midnight one of the tenants came out and saw the car, but 2 of the rims were gone but the other 2 was still there. So he must have scared the thieves off, but he didnt report it to anyone so these guys came back later and finished the job with the last 2

I must say these guys are pretty daring or stupid

bad luck kym ;)

get ROH's ..... common as shit ..... couldnt pay the barsteds to steal them off me LOL

As Stupid as that may sound to some.... :) I couldn't agree with you more !! there are definitely certain advantages to being just like everyone else....

yeah i nearly had them off and some bastard came walking around the corner... :(

;) good to hear that you got outa that one alright kymbo....as for me i was driving down the road and about 20 blokes were standing on the side of the road....

the group slowly molded onto the road as i got closer to them (doing about 50kph) and then one ran out onto the road with something in his hand (i think it was a bottle) and try it hit my car.... he succeeded in his task hitting my mirror, braking all the mechanics inside :D and smashing the mirror :)

we hunted around all night for the group with 3 car loads of people and we found them eventually, it was fun :P

i think its time for a roo bar... :cuss:

Sounds like my story last year at Morley.....

Shame on you ARAB!!!

MarkR33,

Yeah, they have security footage of that carpark.. but the D*ckheads at city west are intent on charging $70+ to VIEW the tape. Even then it's not good quality, and the most I can do is get their rego/face and hunt them down nazi-style... :( *sigh*

Michael,

ahah! LOL! If it were Fane trying I'm sure i'd find man-jizz at the scene of the crime.. it'd be a dead giveaway! :)

Fane,

OMG! That's goatass! Gav'll be able to hook you up with some new mirror!

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
