I've been thinking about what I want to do with the car, basically I'm looking to keep it 80% Daily and 20% track.

I've got some GTT front and rear calipers that I'm going to look at mounting but I need to have a good look as I think the hole is too small.

Slotted rotors would be next as well.

I've been researching the crap out of seats lately and I'm tossing up between a genuine Bride and getting it modplated or buying an ADR approved seat (Autotechnica Bride Look-a-like) and using that. The stock seats dont really bother me too much comfort wise but I slide around in them when I go through some twisties which gets annoying.

So I took my car to my usual mechanic and got the timing belt and a brand new starter motor put in. Starts super quick now which is good.

He also pointed out that my "Aragosta Coilovers" are cheap chinese copies since they had no branding/stamp on the base of the tube. Only "aragosta" written on the damper adjustment knob. Anyway the front left is on its way out now and I'm in need of a replacement pair. As far as I know I need to use R34 Gtr coilovers since they have an "eye" hole to mount them but I'm am not 100% sure

So a few things have happened lately, first and foremost is I got caught up in a RBT/Licence check/Vechicle inspection station. This is the first time I've ever been pulled over believe it or not... for anything.

First thing I did when I got pulled over was click record of my iphone. What didnt go to plan was my mates ringing me so I had to start the recording 3 seperate times!

The cop was nice about it and he understood. Long story short he was very fair. Said my pod filter had to be enclosed and my front wheels could not be outside the guard.

Said the height appeared to be ok and couldnt believe that I've never had a ticket before.

Long story short was I got a $110 fine and 1 point for wheels protruding from the body and unenclosed pod filter.

I could even drive home which was good. Which brings me to my next stage:

The car is currently off the road getting the front coilovers reconditioned as a knock appeared in the front left. While thats happening I've been sussing out a Topstage carbon fibre pod filter cover for GTT but I'm yet to recieve and email back with measurements for the intake hole. New wheels are on the cards too as I would like to go 1 step down from freaking awesome as to try and legitimise the car a bit.

I'm thinking XD9 18 x 9 +20 all round. I'm picking up one today from a mate to test fit and I'll see how she goes.

Thanks for looking guys

That's tuff. How much camber are you running and does it scrub?

I havent measured it exactly, The fronts are pretty straight. I got told by a few people that the rears are around 10 degrees??? But yeah I'm not 100% sure. As for scrubbing: In the rears there is no scrub and the front only scrubs on hard lock. Nothing too serious but.

XD9s in 18x10 +18 are my favourite all time wheel but they do take quite a bit of fiddling to get inside the guards on 33 / 34 non-GTRs.

Consider Varrstoen 3.3.1 / 3.3.2. 18 or 19 x9.5" +22. They are CE28n Replicas. Should fit pretty flush / moar legal on a 34 25gt. They look great on 34s too.

Also ditch the pod all togethor unless it has some dramatic sound difference that you have to keep (understandable). Stock airbox will make same power / torque / everythang :)

p.s. dont got the 18x9 +20 XD9's... they have alot less dish than the 18x10 +18 and will look shit all round. Can look good if you keep the 10" +18 rear though, but all four corners wont be as nice, they just look a bit off imo.

I've got 18x10's on the rear now and 18x9 +20's on the front. Still looks good but it doesnt have as much dish.

I've buggered the pod filter off and got myself a stock box now with a K&N panel filter. I've re used the piping from the pod so it still retains a bit of intake noise and gets rid of the pointless crap hanging off the standard piping.

Just put a GTR front end on it.

:-D

That would look good! I would want to go genuine though if I did go down that path

Clean car man. Still planning on doing the GTT brakes? Next plans?

Thanks Mate, GTT brakes are still there, just waiting on the extra $$ that I can spend on the car/rotors.

    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
    • So while the second sentence is completely correct and the whole point of the conversation, the first sentence bears consideration. If this bloke is just hoping to throw big turbos on and drive it around, because there are no helpful facilities at all in his tropical paradise** then he likely has zero chance of even knowing what the TP is on the last column in the stock maps, let alone know whether the ECU is operating anywhere near it or past it. So the point is very very moot. And, per what I said before, at stock boost on those turbos, you may well be off the end of the map. **I'm just back from Vanuatu, so I know exactly what small Pacific nations can be like wrt paradise without requisite facilities. But it's not even that simple. I put a high flow on my car and had to drive it around without a proper tune because of the lack of opportunity*** to put the bigger AFM and injectors into it to allow it to be tuned. I had to turn the boost down to less than I had before, and back off the boost controller's ramp, because it was exploring parts of the map that it didn't drive in before, and really couldn't access for tuning on the dyno either, and so was pinging. It was still well within the last column, because when I first**** set up the Nistune on the Neo I rescaled all axes of the maps to give some more space to explore. ***Family dyno was broken ****This was 13 years ago, and the TIM thing wasn't a thing then and so TP would definitely grow when pushing past the stock tune's limits.
