Hi guys,

Anyone been in contact with Ground Zero (Martin) lately? I've tried contacting him since December with no success. I spoke to Carbon Car Systems who are next door and say they rarely see him anymore.

Anyone have any suggestions of other places i can get done around the same area?

I have used the search function and found customworx and zinus tinting but they don't have as much feedback online as Ground Zero does.

Cheers

Colin

I've tried ringing him numerous times! His phone goes straight to "person you called is not available" . I've left a message as well and contacted him on jdmst forums with no reply.

Would love to get him to do my car as well but summers ticking and i need tint asap.

Cheers

Funny...

I called him at 2.15 and he could remember the BsB VS2 that he tinted for me - and yet he sounded stoned.

Solvents don't do that do they?

Doesn't Daniel at Carbon Systems do tinting too? At least his network or TSI's network can give you a heads up.

You can also try Greg from Unique Auto Tinting. He's based in Westleigh (close to Hornsby) but does a great job and excellent prices. In fact, I just booked the Wife's 350Z in next Sat. And he does still honor his Skylines Australia discount - after all these years!

He did my GTR back in 2009 and true to his word, the tinting still looks like the day I had it done! Impressive!

I highly recommend is worth the trek.

Mate I can't remember honestly its been that long and I have had a heap of cars done there before, Im pretty sure he's not as low priced as Martin - but they also do an awesome job.

I think with most tinting guys the price varies depending if you go in summer or winter.

No luck with martin still, tried ringing a couple more times + sms's but its weekend so i don't really expect a reply. Will ask Carbon who they use, if its mobile would be even better.

Thanks for the recommendations guys! If i can't find anything local i'll definitely treck out to one of those places :D

As above.

Greg has tinted every one of my cars for the last 10 or so years, excellent work and excellent prices

YES. FINALLY. The first time someone that has recommended a shop (any shop) that is within 15min drive of me. I'm gonna ring them up and get it done ASAP. hahahahaha

by the way, do we need to be SAU member to get the discount and/ or mention skylines australia to get it? Or just rock up in a skyline =D

@CLNSKY come with me this saturday

I like Martin, top job everytime and he's cheap, I mean really cheap.. sometimes I rub my eyes to see if the job is any good for the price and it's great everytime.

I even tell my family members to go there, he offered to drive my aunty to the shops whilst he tinted her car.. Now that's service haha

just went to greg @ unique auto tinting on the weekend, he fit me in on saturday morning at 8am before he went to his workshop, excellent guy got my front 2 windows done in less than 30mins and still gives the SAU discount - in his words "ill just charge whatever that price was"

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
