Not really related but I have seen these new GTX3067Rs on a few patrols and as for response they are alot less laggy than a 71 or 76r turbo. They go absolutely great with the 4.2 turbo diesel, spool up nice and early with the stock GU pumps compared to a GT3071R which with the same fuel setup was a bit doughy and laggy.

That's the sort of performance I banked on when deciding to go with the GTX3067. GT3071R like power but a bit better response. What I was really looking for was a suitable substitute for the HKS 2835 Pro S. If it performs like that I'll be super happy.

Haha, you guys are hanging out? It's been just over 6 weeks since I dropped the car off now, so really hope the rest of the work goes smoothly... and that it comes up with a decent result...

No concrete results as yet. Tune was started yesterday. They're currently testing with more preload into actuator to see if boost can come on earlier (not sure how much I should read into that...). But was told is progressing without any issues which is a relief.

Due to be finished this afternoon so hopefully will receive dyno sheet later today.

Should've been done before the turbo was installed....Looking forward to seeing ya sheet and how it drives! If you dont post up a sheet tonight it had better be because you were driving it all night loving it! ;) lol!

Dunno, what the deal is with the preload testing. Not sure if it's obvious from previous posts, but mechanical work was done by one group (Galvsport) and tune at another (PZP). I guess Galvsport leaves that sort of adjustment up to the tuner?

My AVCR wasn't up to controlling the way my old Garrett internal gate needed to be to make it aggressively go to and hold full boost so it had a lazy boost curve. It wasn't laggy, the gate just cracked open too early.

yeah sounds like an interesting combination, with GTX though I think of lazy onto boost but then violent in my case, but lets see what she puts out, Im positive she'll give

you some interesting onto boost thrills.. 270kw is my prediction with healthy midrange.

I hope they load that boost up, like 20psi then bleed it off, will be so much more angry that way..

^ yeah agreed, that will be one of the best ways of dealing with this turbo - though again would have been particularly ideal with the .63. Still very keen to hear how it went... hard to find the silence unnerving when usually a good result comes with a "W00t - it did <insert positive result details>!!!"

... actually I don't know. Didn't hear back last night. Getting a bit weary of chasing up, I just seem to get myself (and you guys) worked up, haha. I imagine I'm low on the priority list for Galvsport seeing as they usually work on bazillion horse power GTR builds and the like.

Agreed on both comments above. I asked to target for around 20psi. Was told it basically comes down to whatever the turbo will give and engine can handle, which makes sense.

I have mixed feelings about the 0.63 vs 0.82 housing. 0.63 was definitely the original plan (or so I thought) to maximise response, but now with the 0.82 hopefully less risk of boost creep issues. Will also allow like for like comparison with other turbos such as GT3071 & GTX3071.

If I ever get results that is... :unsure:

I don't think you are likely to have boost creep issues even with the .63 - compressor isn't big enough to push more boost than you are aiming for, really. My reasoning for the .63 versus .82 comes partly down to exhaust volume/speed versus compressor size - your compressor will need more shaft speed (ie, spinning the same turbine) to move enough air to keep an RB25 happy versus say a GT3076R or even GT3071R. A smaller a/r will cause a higher shaft speed versus flow through the engine, and a higher turbine speed is a happier more efficient turbine - the fact the compressor won't be pushing all the air in the world at those higher speeds is a good thing (in my head) for keeping differential pressure a bit more in check than some combos shooting for similar power would achieve.

On the flip side, I think the 0.82 may take some of the wind out it's sails for the same reasons - so without really good boost control it'd not surprise me if there was a bit of a lazy boost curve (not to be confused with lag - more boost control), though there is also the potential for it to really take the octane limiting edge off it - so per psi you may get reasonable numbers considering the size turbo and the whole stock manifolds etc situation.

It's a very different combo for an RB25, no doubt part of why there is so much interest.

That comment of yours seems rather prescient Lith...

Just had word the reason for the delay is they're troubleshooting boost control/ramp rate issues. Believing it due to be down to actuator not performing as it should, so he's in discussion with MTQ and tuner about solution. I'm not sure exactly what actuator it is, other than being a genuine Garrett item.

Having only seen second hand info, hard to say, but sounding suspiciously like what you've described just a minute ago when using 0.82 housing...

At the rate I'm going you'll probably be finished before me! Haha.

What's your setup?

Just on previous point, asked Josh (from Galvsport) if he thought 0.82 housing may be the culprit. He said there's no problem with the response; the issue is with the gate opening prematurely leading to lazy ramp up.

I have been gathering parts etc while dragging my ass ( not literally like a dog) getting shit done around the house, start my build next month.

Have been buy parts when cash is available and thankfully I have majority of the exy stuff now so it is all my own labour to come.

Nothing real flash really, not looking to join the 300 killa wasp class yet just after a good responsive daily that doesn't draw too much attention from the plod.

Normal mods like forward facing Freddy manifold, high mount exhaust manifold with IWG gtx3076, looking at the .63 housing as well for response same as you,

Ps 2000 Haltech with long loom and perhaps flex fuel so I can run E85 when I update the Std injectors and throttle body for now until the need for more speed oh and the cash allows lol

I hear good things about Galvsport, talked to them a few times and always been helpful, I go through a mate Peter up at Gidgie motors up in the hills now though.

Noticed you said GTX3076. We're mostly talking about the baby GTX3067 in this thread though. Typo?

    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.      
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
    • But first....while I was there, I also swapped across the centre console box for the other style where the AV inputs don't intrude into the (very limited !) space.  Part# was 96926-4GA0A, 284H3-4GA0B, 284H3-4GA0A. (I've already swapped the top 12v socket for a USB bulkhead in this pic, it fit the hole without modification:) Comparison of the 2: Basically to do the console you need to remove the DS and PS side console trim (they slide up and back, held in by clips only) Then remove the back half of the console top trim with the cupholders, pops up, all clips again but be careful at the front as it is pretty flimsy. Then slide the shifter boot down, remove the spring clip, loose it forever somewhere in the car the pull the shift knob off. Remove the tiny plastic piece on DS near "P" and use something thin and long (most screwdrivers won't fit) to push down the interlock and put the shifter down in D for space. There is one screw at the front, then the shifter surround and ashtray lift up. There are 3 or 4 plugs underneath and it is off. Next is the rear cover of the centre console; you need to open the console lid, pop off the trim covering the lid hinge and undo the 2rd screw from the driver's side (the rest all need to come out later so you can do them all now and remove the lid) Then the rear cover unclips (6 clips), start at the top with a trim tool pulling backwards. Once it is off there are 2 screws facing rearwards to remove (need a short phillips for these) and you are done with the rear of the console. There are 4 plugs at the A/V box to unclip Then there are 2 screws at the front of the console, and 2 clips (pull up and back) and the console will come out.
