Not sure where to post this but i figured photography would be best related section to do so.

Over the last weekend I took some time with my friend to make a short film on my R34, still practising with different lighting, areas, camera angles & shots etc

thought I would share and check out for some feedback if anyone here has experience with video making..!

Not a bad start!

You're creating a flair for suspense and the dramatic.

In just 2-3 takes (- not all), why not get a lovely looking young lady (- slim and sleek like your car) > she's dressed in a royal blue skirt with gold piping - and carrying her shoes > she's running barefoot from post to post > trying to get away from you - the stalker > a close-up reveals beads of sweat on her brow - she's frightened > clip ends with a bang from your starter pistol (dubbed in - being in a public carpark).

The lady also fills in some blank spaces without detracting from the vertical posts whilst she's slim herself - and she only needs to be in the distance + only one close-up required near the end.

Some nice work in there. I really like the fisheye, dolly and slider work.

For a short vid, say max 2-3 minutes just altering angles and glamour shots like you did work well.

Any longer and it starts to get repetitive and you have to find a way to break up the repetition. Find interesting stuff in the location and do some sliders and pans on it. Say the refection of a flouro light or a cement beam. Video is interesting because you can take an ordinary object say like that painted cement beam and using fixed focus and slider slide down to focus and thereby make it an interesting to watch, but a real tease to the viewer cause they are wondering, when will the car come into the shot... and it doesn't.

Think of it kind of like striptease when doing glamour stuff. The viewer wants the glorious glamour visuals but if you give it to them all the time they get bored of it. You need to string them out and make them want it a bit. I do this also by mixing macro shots in, like emblems, stickers, small details and some shots from the location that are totally irrelevant to the subject. Watch Top Gear UK, they are masters at this.

The dark area with good color balance and lighting highlights was pretty good. That can be really tough to get right.

I also noticed that a few of your focus pulls went just a little too far. It came into focus but then overshot.

Thanks mate, that was what we were aiming for at the start, to draw suspense make it look almost mysterious so people keep watching to see it revealed. lady will be involved in the next one for sure. this was just a practice test in an underground car park to play around. very neat idea though had something similiar in mind but will have to try when shooting next! i was looking to implement in those slow still focus/pan points whether it be a girl or some sort of activity blurred in the background to make the still image look more attractive as i noticed people would tend to get bored of a long panning scene. will see how i go with the next one!

Thanks! was aiming to keep it short, i think it total we had a good 20-25 minutes worth of different shots it got cut down to. next one for sure will be with more detail and features. i like that idea. creates a bit more suspense as viewers are expecting to see the car appear. the lighting in there was alright maybe not the best but will be working on different locations next time.

yeah i noticed that also with the focus need to work on that a little bit more!

Technically very good man. Colours/lighting/slides/focus (for the most part) are all great.

Edit wise, if you don't actually have something worth more than 2 minutes of my time don't make it 3 minutes. Not saying ur car is only worth 2 minutes, but you just repeated stuff for a lot of time. Could uave cut the driving in carpark in half, or shown driving to the park... also a few doubles on the same angle. I.e. wheel and rear of car.

It's just practice I guess, f u take on board all the strong feedback in here you'll improve super fast! We will be watching out for your next vid :)

      98 R34GTT 4k engine stumble

      98 r34 gtt Been rocking my latest setup and car running like never before. Have put a good 200 miles on it since all the latest changes and additions. everything is dialed in and have been driving it a bunch.   However, all a sudden last weekend as soon as I pushed throttle passed 4k and the engine stumbles, (slow or fast acceleration) hesitates and doesn’t go above 4100 or so, like a misfire. Everything else seems fine. I had a “good” set of coil packs that I removed from car when I first got it when I changed them over to new coils. I swapped out current ones for those, but no change. I also changed the plugs, no change. Seems to rev over 4 when out of gear with no load just fine no “misfire”, but as soon as its in gear with a load of any kind, it “misfires” as soon as rpm drop back below 4 k it runs perfectly, smooth, starts, restarts and drives fine as long as I keep it below 4 k while in gear. All readings look fine, no CEL   Any idea as to what could all a sudden cause an issue when pushing rpms passed 4 k?

      We're arguing semantics. I am saying 45 accel and a 55 deccel ramp are "2 ways". Even a 45 degree ramp and an 89 degree ramp is "2 ways", because it is literally... two ways. The cusco 55/30 ramp is a 2 way. It's two ways. I get it though - in normal nomenclature a "2 way" would be 45/45 or 55/55 or 60/60 i.e the same locking in both directions. And something like 45/65 would be considered "1.5 way". I would then say if we're getting into the nitty gritty then every locking diff is a "2 way" diff and we should not speak in 1.5, or 2 ways but ramp angles instead. Which ofc if one of those ramp angles is 90deg, that side is not doing any locking. :p So Nismo don't obviously sell 3 things. The fact of the matter that they only sell two items really goes to show that there's a 2 way and a "1,5 way" which is really a 1 way. I believe the actual lockup for the 'adjustability' of the GT pro is really just setting preload for when the ramps actually start locking up. It's not changing how much 'wayness' there is. It is (somehow) horribly explained. People just buy whatever diff and go "locks up good bruh" and that's what ends up on socials forever.

      No, you're wrong, and you've always been wrong about this. The Nismo has 2 sets of openings. One is a real 2-way, and the other is a 1-way. There is no 1.5-way possible with the ramps that they offer. A real 1.5-way does exist. That Cusco stuff I posted is a prime example. If the forward drive ramps are, say 55°, and the overrun ramps are, say, 30°, then you will get about half as much LSD effect on overrun than you do on drive. It is real, it realy works. OK, you're slightly right. The Nismo has 55° and 45° ramps on the 2-way, so it does offer less LSD effect on overrun. But, I think that just means that they've (probably) sensibly established that you do not want actually equal LSD effect on overrun. You just want "quite a lot, but not quite as much as the drive LSD effect".
