Up for sale is an unfinished Aus model R31 project car. Want to sell as a whole car so please do not offer prices at this stage on individual parts.

Here is what the car has:

Complete RB20DET-R from a GTS-R half cut with loom wired in. GTS-R FMIC and all piping in good condition included but not installed. Ceramic coated GTS-R Exhaust Manifold. Polished heat shield. Ceramic coated rear turbo housing (standard GTS-R turbo). Painted cam covers and timing belt cover. Car was originally Auto converted to Manual using the GTS-R gearbox and pedal assembly etc. All R32 suspension components ready for S13 coilovers. Nolathane bushes everywhere. Craft Diffs in Parramatta built the diff with a VS SS centre rated up to 500+hp. S15 5 stud hubs. GTS-R front guards are on and ready for paint. GTS-R dash included but not installed. GT badges included but not installed. Detailed Under carraige. Please keep this neat and tidy. Message me any offers, looking for 6k for the whole car. Buy to do up and rego, race and sell in parts. No expense spared

Here is what the car needs:

Paint. Front and rear bumpers - easy to come by. S13 suspension. Radiator - may be able to supply a standard Aus model radiator. I will add or remove things as they are remembered.

It's a shame this could not be finished and enjoyed as it was intended but time restraints have forced the sale. Hopefully it will go on to be enjoyed like it should have,

Location: Sydneys Greater West near the Blue Mountains.

Price: Looking at offers around the 6k mark.

The diff has sold. Will take 4500 for the rest of the car. Engine still complete with turbo manifold and heat shield loom and GTSR intercooler with piping, GTSR 5 Speed manual. All R32 front end suspension minus the shocks and springs. Comes with GTSR dash in good condition GT bages for front 1/4 panels and more.

Possibly willing to separate for the right price. By separate I mean the engine complete and box separate from the car. R32 front suspension altogether but separate from the car and engine etc. I know there is interest in the exhaust manifold but it is staying with the engine.

how much would you want for long motor with exhaust manifold and turbo? Not concerned about intake manifold. What are the internals of the 20? Stock or built?

Its a standard engine. Not seperating bits and pieces here and there its selling as a whole with the gearbox.. Intercooler isnt going to be seperated. Trying to sell as is in the shell. Buy the lot and sell off what u dont want. It is a standard GTSR FMIC which has been repainted black (as standard) and the piping is original in good condition. If you do want to buy the engine and box etc but dont want the shell make a good offer. Will only seperate for the right price. Half cut was over 3k and its only gotten better since then.

    • That's probably OK. That's a face to face compression joint between two surfaces with the clamping load provided by those bolts. So.... it's unlikely that the bolts will end up feeling that load in shear, unless the clamping surfaces are not large enough, bolts not got enough tension on them, etc etc to prevent the two faces from moving wrt each other. Which... I would hope the designers have considered, seeing as it's probably one of the most important things the upright has to do apart from resist collapsing in its own right. But yes, it would definitely be worth asking them what their safety factor on that part of the design was. I tend to think that the casting, being a casting, is not necessarily the strongest bit of material in the world. It's about an inch square, and when you think about the loads that are being put into it, you have to wonder what safety factor the Nissan boys (and every other OEM engineer who has designed all the millions of other uprights that look essentially the same) used to account for defective casting, aging, severe impacts on the wheel, etc etc.
    • Those bolts would be orders of magnitude stronger that cast aluminium though.  And its mainly clamping force, not shear they are dealing with?
    • Except all that twisting force that is breaking a cast piece, appears to be going through 4 bolts in the picture Johnny posted of the BryPar one...
    • The smart approach is to use the gearbox loom from the manual car. Makes it a lot easier - just plugs into the switches on the box and plugs into the main loom up near the fusebox. Then you only need to deal with bypassing the inhibit switch. The other approach requires you to use the wiring diagram to identify those wires by colour and location, perhaps even indulging in a little multimeter action to trace them end to end to make sure, and then.... you will have the answers you need. The R34 wiring diagram is available on-line (no, I do not have a link to it myself - I would have to do a search if I wasn't able to go to the copy I have at home).
