R34 Gtr At A Certain Dealership Starting With Ed, Ending In E's- Yes, I Know What You Are Thinking.....

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Whilst I am fully aware of the reputation at said dealership through various forums online and through word of mouth, I am curious as to what the SAU community thinks of the below car (Link attached)

http://www.edwardlees.com.au/stock/2001-nissan-skyline-gt-r-v-spec-3307.htm

looks to be a series II 34 GTR but not a v-spec as it would be a V-spec II if it was a 2001 model, standard series II models came out in nov 2000 and V-spec II released oct 2000 in the series II, it is missing its v-spec II carbon bonnet also its rear diffuser if it was a V-spec II, the speedo cluster is from a standard model not a V-spec model the rear diff in one of the photos is from a standard model not a V-spec all the rear badges on the back are in the wrong postion.

Only thing that does not add up is the MFD it is from a v-spec as it has 7 functions not 5 as a standard model would have unless the series II GTR's all had 7 functions i know the series I standard models had 5 so i assume the 2nd series was the same

So i would say its a standard 2001 series II that someone has changed the MFD and may of had damage at the rear from the postioning of the badges you would think these dealers would know what they are selling since they are a import dealer or must be hoping the customer doesn't

Very interesting gtr13. I was curious as I had only heard of the 2001 model being Vspec II. I'm obviously in the market for an R34....

In the video provided by the dealer, they also mention the previous owner traded this GTR in for an Evo 8 MR. I wonder how much they traded it in for seeing as though an Evo 8 MR can be had for roughly 25-26K? I would assume the previous owner got more than 25K as a trade in or there is something genuinely suss about this GTR to begin with?

i got 2000 V-Spec 1 with the silver dash, one think i can say is, its missing and it should have (bloody expensive to get a new one) is the dry carbon rear diffuser. stock original ones are very expensive and for me at least a must have item on a V-Spec + car.

Apart from that looks to be in good nick.

as R34 Prices go in Jap land, Silver ones are not the dearest, so you may be able to knock a couple grand off..

also there is a thread in the forum for checking VIN number via Nissan FAST, which will give you the correct answer in terms of spec.

It's got a v-spec badge though it has the black v-spec II interior. So unless someone has ripped off the 2 I's from the v-spec II badge, something is definitely sus.....

It's a v-spec sticker can be bought at any nissan dealer or off japan yahoo auctions for less then $100 obviously the last owner stuck it on as it is also not exactly in the correct spot the black interior came with all series II R34 GTR's standard or V-spec II as i said i would say its a standard series II model trying to be passed off as a v-spec only a check of the vin number through nissan fast will confirm this

do the vin check, i thought all series 2 were vspec and was going to buy (thought it was) a bargain

but there is actually standard non vspec series 2 r34 gtrs with black interior

Car was sold a couple of weeks ago, they just haven't removed it from their website so no way to find out unless the new owner is on SAU :whistling: ?

Figures. I've heard of this happening, they tell people they still have a car and then when you get there they tell you that it just sold and then try and sell you on some other POS.

yeh there was a nur on carsales for months!! he just used it as 1 selling thing and when people called said he sold and can import another one, saves on extra carsales ad costs, never go by someones word anyway because everyone talks shit when it comes to sales people describing condition of their cars

let's give the 'man' some 'credit' > he puts in extra effort to prep some of his cars :whistling:

eg. a car is imported with snow tyres > he puts on appropriate passable tyres for compliancing > extra effort in putting the snow tyres back on

Oh well, as long as he's happy with it! :D

But how long until he pops his head in here, saying, guys I boosted it hard on the nasho and now its making this loud knocking noise.....?

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
