2 posts and I already feel loved.. Thanks Terry :)

It just blows me away that true car fanatics can buy cars without seeing or driving them, so there must be a lot of trust placed in these importers especially when they nab them from auctions.

Smidy I'd be interested to hear about your story too, like if it was auction or dealer and how thoroughly it was inspected etc.

Keep them coming guys, this is great info!

Yeah m8 was an auction vehicle, was sent heaps of pics before auction to see condition of vehicle under body, engine bay, paint, interior and also highlighting any imperfections where ever. Then make a decision accordingly if I wanted to bid or not and if so my limit. Thought it would go for a high price so said a certain amount and got it for several thousand less(Aussies dollars) so very happy with price. Got a heap more photos when car was at shipping docks before it left too. Missed out on a few before I got this car but probly for the right reasons. Auction sheet was translated and given an opinion by Ben And checked over by contacts in japan.

That sounds pretty thorugh especially for an auction vehicle, so the only thing you don't know is how it drives.

I suppose though the condition of the outside of the car usually resembles the rest of it.

Did you get any service history or books at all?

Appreciate the details mate!

Haven't got the car yet due to arrive in early July complied and registered. Ben said there was 39,000km with history so am assuming there is it was noted on the auction sheet also a aftermarket nismo dash changed at 21,500and now has 17,650 km on. There is also the usual tell tale signs of age like if interior wear is bad etc which is zero to none.

Jspec imported my Black Stagea years ago, complied at GT Auto in Melbourne. Very happy with the car and whole process from pre auction inspection to final delivery and registration on road. Because of the specific spec of the car I wanted, it took a few goes at auction and 8 months to source what I wanted.

Currently in the market for a much rarer car than my Stagea, and have been driving Iron Chef a little bit nuts lately.

Tony.

Hopefully you'll be driving the rare weapon and not Iron Chefs nuts soon!

Yeah, I hope so too! I think Chef is used to it with all the other car crazy people he has dealt with over the years!

I'm a +1 for J-spec, had my silvia for almost 2 months now & the inspections they do on every car before you bid is great!
couldn't fault their service at all :)

I'd chatted to Troy (Iron Chef) about a couple of cars but we hadn't bid on or inspected any. Then the perfect car came up for auction the next day. Troy was able to have it inspected prior to bidding and then secured it within budget.

Once in Australia it was complianced by JLM (Adam/Todd).

The car is currently being detailed by a SAU member back to better than new condition.

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
