FineLine
33 gtr..under acceleration the rear end gives a disconcerting wiggle at around 5500 rpm, It feels like the hicas doing a little dance of its own accord, Anyone familiar with the prob or have a solution other than a lock bar? Dose Pipe Sutututu
check to see if your rack ends and tie rods are in good condition, cheap to replace if they're fuarked. I've used a ling long brand called Road Safe and they haven't snapped yet LOL Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/426980-possible-hicas-issue/#findComment-6889947 Share on other sites

Dose Pipe Sutututu
^ maybe he likes HICAS Theoretically it makes sense to have HICAS, and the system was revised in Series III GT-Rs like yours Paul, prior to that HICAS was pretty shit. I've tossed mine in the bin too, but I own a fridge. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/426980-possible-hicas-issue/#findComment-6890204 Share on other sites
FineLine
In this car it worrrys me not wether its hicas or not Paul, Its just a cruiser. If it takes a lock bar to rectify the issue it will get one but I would rather fix an issue than put a band aid on it. GTSBoy
A lock bar doesn't really solve the problem that you probably have anyway. The outer tie rod ends are the spot that wears the most, and a HICAS delete bar leaves those in place. You'd still need to replace them. Question.....does 5500 rpm relate to a particular road speed at all? HICAS is known to exhibit it's problems at particular speeds because the HICAS computer reaches "panic mode" at those points when given sensors are not working. Steering angle sensor is one that people often accidentally lose when they put a different steering wheel on the car and the hub doesn't have the drive pin for the steering sensor. On my car (last century) it would crank the steering wheel over to the (left? right?) by about 45° when over 80km/h just because no steering sensor. HICAS panic. No steering sensor also meant I couldn't put it into diagnostic mode which made it very hard to work out what was going wrong. The HICAS computer also looks at VSS, and for all I know in the later GTRs it might even be looking at the G sensors. There's lots of things that can make it act flaky. FineLine
before we go any further all tierods etc are in ace condition. The problem only presents itself on brisk acceleration. I suspect some kind of sensor deal but dont really know where to look. GTSBoy
Try to put it into diagnostics mode (no, I don't know how to do it on your car, only on an R32). Failing that, get a mechanic with a decent scan tool to hook up to the Consult port and see if there are any codes in the HICAS computer. You may have to take it for a drive and trigger the fault to see anything.
