R33 Gtst S1 Vs S2 Heads

is there a difference between the two? i know that the s2 dont run the ignition module. i mean in the head it self. ive got a s2 which im getting a new head for. would it matter which head i run?

any help would be appreciated

the heads are the same. the only difference is the ignition system, the s1 runs a ignitor where the s2 and the .5's went to a coil which has the ignitior in built.

the cams are different also, ( exhaust cam only) the s1 runs the older style CAS where the S2 runs the newer style, the way to tell is that the S2 has a plastic cover and the S1 is the old metal style.

if you are changing the heads only you can run the ignition system that came on the car without any issues. you can also wire up the CAS if you need to. its pretty easy.

no, no disadvantage or advantage

as stated above they are the same head

Only the late S2's run the newer style CAS. I think 97 onwards

The CAS is wired backwards as well. Swap top wire to bottom and bottom top etc and it will work fine.
