Hahahah thanks heaps :D
There should be more chick skyline/cars in general lovers :P

Yeah i'm tossing around the idea of the GTR badge...I don't want to be one of those chevy badging idiots...but the GTR just makes it look so much better haha

Welcome to the SAU world Brodie! Female + Skyline =

Your car looks Awesome with those Rims and a GTR Wing will Definately be Tougher than the series 1 wing but please, for love of the God of Boost, don't put a GTR badge on a Non GTR. :/

Having said that, Enjoy your car and all that SAU can offer.

The headwork is because it is rooted. It was stolen and got completely flogged, everything was damaged or tampered with and is in desperate need of some TLC.
As for the pads, I've had em on her before and apart from the minimal amount of inevitable dust, they went alright..and to be even more on the safe side I have bought the ultra premium pads which offer extra protection against brake dust. You can't stop every particle of dust from settling, just gotta clean your car.

As for the fan....it takes more effort for the water pump to turn the stock fan. Changing it to a thermo, if it's done right and hooked up to the temp sensor etc, is better for my setup as I also want to have it setup to a toggle switch for track days, burn out pads and intensely hot days as she runs at about 74 degrees and then if she starts to get too warm she jumps to an extreme temp too fast. The stock one in it now is a clutch fan, which is shit...why else would most cars be setup with thermo fans?

As for the GTR badge, if the boot lid comes with the badge on it then why would I want to remove a legit part of the car if it originally came from a GTR? Everything is nismo JDM original parts, no crappy knock offs. I know it isn't actually one and part of me hopes the boot doesn't come with a GTR badge cause I don't want to be one of those Chevy badging holden idiots, but if it does then removing it means that I have altered the original part and that sorta sounds worse to me.

Plus in the future I am planning to build a single turbo 26 and add 33 GTR seats...I mean i'd love to have an actual GTR but short of ripping out the running gear and replacing it with a rear wheel drive setup for friendlier slide abilities instead of just hectic launch capabilities...which not only lessens the value but is totally unnecessary and a pain in the ass....I might as well turn my GTST into a GTR replica without the wide body, saves me all the pain of that crap and also saves me from spending heaps on buying an actual GTR.

Not to mention it is customized for me, my style of driving, my drifting...i'm the mechanic and the one spending all the money and putting in the love...if it runs well for me and still looks as good as it does then why change or not change what clearly works for me and the car to something that others say 'MIGHT' be better.

If others don't like what I, a chick...has done to this car or how I look after it then that's their opinion.

I'm only stating facts..not trying to better anybody or come off like a total bitch :P

GTR

just some tips....why all the headwork....you want a better flowing head just put a neo head on it...either way its a waste of time really...dont bother unless its stuffed and needs rebuilding...bendix pads are junk and will dust up those beautiful wheels like crazy...putting a thermo fan is not an upgrade...its actually a downgrade...

ok you lost me now... :glare:

but you're already here.....

Yeah I don't know any other chicks I can even just talk about cars in general lol :P But I was always a bit more out going than other girls haha

Finishing touches for the day

Once you start modding it and playing around with it, you find you are completely broke and that you just can't stop haha..I've spent heaps on her and had it for almost 3 years and I still tinker with her almost everyday, there's always something I can do :P haha

In English layman's terms, how much would you sell the wing for? Sorry brain hurts after work..i fail I know haha

Hey Brodie!
Yeah i think I've met like 3 girls in my whole life who don't roll their eyes when cars are mentioned haha

Yeah I'm so happy with it, can't put the tools down, or my bank card for that matter
SORRY LAND son of rajab ;)

But yeah they're fun cars to play with!!!

Mmm I'd sell it for $500 x 2 / 4 -100 x 3 - 300
;) have fun with that

Hey Aimz I'm Brodie :D

It'd be nice to see some more female skyline owners/lovers :D

Thanks heaps, and Welcome to SAU

Hey nice car, I'm also new to this site and I find it really interesting.
The names is aimz and I'm hoping to find more female skyline lovers out there :)
Good job on the mods!

Yeah yeah I know. lol. See my responses to the others regarding being frowned upon. :P
It's mainly in regards to the fact I want a GTR spoiler and boot lid....if the boot lid comes with the badge I don't wanna remove it as it's detracting from the original authenticity of the GTR...all my parts are authentic nismo JDM unaltered parts and that's how I like it....trust me I don't wanna be a Chevy badging Holden idiot. :P lol

Hahaha combine skylines(or cars in general) and men with the internet....then toss in some females........Well hey, sounds like you guys never have to leave your computers again :P

Yeah L33SH welcomed me almost as soon as I joined, fairly sure she was the first person to look at my profile as well :D haha

Well it's true! :P

Except of course for Leesh, unlike the rest of us douchebags she's pretty nice.

Gypsy cuddles?!
I love gypsies and cuddles...but what do they have to do with skylines? Other than cuddles in a skyline is rather tricky lol

LACHLAN! Leave the poor girl alone!

She doesn't need to be molested in her own thread! Wait until she comes to our thread full of Gypsy Cuddles first!

Hi Brodie, lovely motor you've got there and +1 to not running gtr badges on gtst - it's like chev badges on commos.

As for gypsy cuddles, head over this thread, it's quite informative and educational* once you're in it and you won't look back.

*it's not necessarily true.

And enjoy your stay.

Hey Brodie,

Welcome to the group!

She's a tidy looking 33 you have there. Duck in to the QLD section and say hi to some of the guys.

In the upcoming year we have a motorkhana, sprint day, happy laps and drag days organised. Would be great to see you at a few of these events!

Look forward to catching up soon.

Tony.

I'm going to jump in on this here. If you're changing to a thermo fan because it's getting hot while driving, your fan ISN'T the problem. Why do I know this? Because a thermo fan, or a hydarulic fan CANNOT move as much air as what your car can while being driven at 30KM/H.

If it's over heating, you need to find out WHY.

I did a skim of your mods before, but I don't remember them. If you have a new radiator in it, it may still be the culprit, alot of the alloy radiators don't disperse heat properly.

Your thermo may be dicking out.

Your water galleries may be partially blocked.

You may have air in the system.

What's sitting in front of the radiator? Is the air con condensor blocked up with dirt and not letting air through? Have you thrown a HUGE FMIC in front of both of these items and are impeeding air flow?

Big thing that could save you a LOT of hassles, is some simple ducting, force all of the air that is coming through the front bumper bar, to HAVE to go through the radiator. If it's like 99% of the cars around, a lot of the air is able to go AROUND the radiator. If it goes around, it doesn't cool it down.

Also what's the shroud on the back of the radiator (Between radiator and engine) like? Does it have big gaps around it? Cracks in it?

I've been looking at what to do with one of my cars that will be a purely track car only, and one of the things I'm looking at is NOT having any cooling fan on it, it's going to do hill climb/time trials, so there's no sitting for long periods with the car idling etc etc. Moving car moves way more air than the fan will, so it won't be an issue.

Also, if you add more electrical items, it means a bigger drain on the electrical system, which adds load to the alternator, which adds load to the engine also. Just that it's even less efficient then the hydaraulic fan.

    • Back again. I returned to Japan in Jul/Aug to spend time with the car on my birthday and remind myself what all the sacrifice and compromise is for. It happened to line up with the monthly morning meet in Okutama, which I have been wanting to go to for a long time. It's a unique event at a unique spot with really rare, interesting, and quirky cars. It's where all the oldheads and OGs gather. The nighttime scene at DKF certainly has its place and should be experienced if you're into cars, but there's too much bad attention and negativity around it now. IMO the better time is Sunday morning at DKF or Okutama; it's more chill and relaxed. I'm glad I was finally able to go, but not sure it's worth the drive from all the way from Nagoya immediately the day before, unless I was already staying in Tokyo for the days right before the meet, because you have to wake up quite early to make it in time. Funnily enough though I didn't drive the car all that much this trip because it was just too damn hot. While there were zero issues and running temps were nominal and the A/C was strong, RBs already run crazy hot as it is. Sure, it took it all like a champ but something about driving these cars in the ridiculous heat/humidity bothers me and makes me feel like I'm asking too much of it. I'm just me being weird and treating the car like a living thing with feelings; I'm mechanically sympathetic to a fault. Instead I was mainly driving something else around - a KX4(silver) 2001 X-Trail GT, that I acquired in May. There's a few different flavors to choose from with Xs, but visually it's the Nissan version of the Honda CR-V. Mechanically it's a whole different story as this, being the top-trim GT, has an SR20VET mated to a four-speed auto and full-time AWD! It was a very affordable buy in exceptional condition inside and out, with very low mileage...only 48k kms. Most likely it was owned by an older person who kept it garaged and well-maintained, so I'm really happy with how it all worked out. It literally needs zero attention at the moment, albeit except for some minor visual touch-ups. I wanted something quirky, interesting, and practical and for sure it handily delivers on all three of those aspects. I was immediately able to utilize the cargo and passenger capacity to its full extent. It's a lot of fun to drive and is quite punchy through 1st and 2nd. It's very unassuming -in the twisty bits it's a lot more composed than one would think at a glance- and it'll be even better once I get better tires on it(yes, it's an SUV but still a little boat-y for my liking). So...now I have two golden-era Nissans in silver. One sports car and one that does everything else; the perfect two-car solution I think👍 The rest of the trip...I was able to turn my stressed brain off and enjoy it, although I didn't quite get to do as much as I thought. I did some interesting things, met some interesting people, and happened into some interesting situations however, that's all for another post though only if people really want to know. Project-wise, I went back to Mine's again to discuss more plans and am hoping to wrap that up real soon; keep watching this space if that interests you. Additionally, while working in the tormenting sweatbox that is the warehouse, I was able to organize most of the myriad of parts that my friend is storing for me along with the cars, and the 34 has a nice little spot carved out for it: And since it can get so stupid hot in there, that made it all the more easy -after I was standing there looking at the car and said 'f**k it'- to finally remove all the damn gauges that have mostly been an eyesore all this time. Huzzah. The heat basically makes the adhesive backing on the gauge mounts more pliable to work with, so it was far less stressful getting this done. I didn't fully clean it up or chase the wiring though; that will happen once I have the car in closer possession. Another major reason to remove all that stuff is to give people less reasons to get in my car and steal s**t while it's being exported/imported when/if the time comes, which leads us to my next point... ...and that is even though it's time in Japan is technically almost up since it's a November car and the X would be coming in March, I'm still not entirely sure where my life and career is headed; I don't really know what the future looks like and where I'm going to end up. I feel there's a great deal of uncertainty with me and as a result of that, it feels like I'm at a crossroads moreso now than any point in my life thus far and there are some choices I need to make. Yes, I've had some years to consider things and prepare myself, however too much has happened in that time to maintain confidence and everything feels so up in the air; tenuous one might say. Simply put, there's just too much nonsense going on right now from multiple vectors. Admittedly, I'm struggling to stay in the game and keep my eyes on the prize. So much so in fact, that very recently I came the closest I ever have before to calling it quits outright; selling everything and moving on and not looking back. The astute among you will pick up on key subtext within this paragraph. In the meantime I've still managed to slowly acquire some final bits for the car, but it feels nice knowing there's not much left to get and I'm almost across that finish line; I have almost everything I'll ever want for my interpretation and expression on what it is I think an R34 should be. 'til later.
    • Thanks for that, hadn’t used my brain enough to think about that.
    • Also playing with fire if they start to flow more air down low than what the stock twins can. It's not even up top you need to worry, it can be at 3000rpm and part throttle and it's getting way more flow than it should.
    • Any G40/1000 or G40/1250 results out there?
    • You still want a proper tune on the stock ECU though. Stock tune + stock ECU with GT-SS/-9s is probably playing with fire if you're running more than stock airflow/power.
