Happy Laps - Queensland Raceway 27-10-13

which is utter bollocks.......30 at lakeside is just stupid IMO

QR set the minimum of 30 because their insurance hit them with a massive premium increase after some things that were said on another forum that their insurance saw, so now QR need to make more money off happy laps.

So are we ever going to go back to Lakeside? I would personally be happy to pay a bit more to go there (increase the charge to cover 30 cars if say only 20 show up). I find it a much nicer area, better track and just generally more enjoyable.

Yes we are planning to still run LP happy laps we just ran out of time to get the numbers for that session.

It wasn't just the issues with a certain other club that caused the hike, the death at Lakeside recently combined with the number of cars being written off has added to it as well. Try telling an insurance company that you want to have 25-35 drivers on track at the same time, most with little to no experience and no one will be wearing a helmet.

And for finalisation of the debate a few of us were having re: Happy laps and insurance -

"You are not covered If your car was being used or tested in or for a race, trial, test or contest or on a competition circuit, course or arena." From Just Car.

Anyonw who thought they were covered by their insurance on track are kidding themselves to start with.

The issue and debate rested on how QR were now promoting the events. The argument was basically we are traveling no faster than road speeds, and it is NOT racing of any sort, how is it different to writing it off in a car park.

This is a very valid point.

pretty arguable. however insurance companies dont pay if its in a private carpark either. Its usually bump for bump.

that arguement would come down to whose got the biggest lawyer,......insurance would win for sure

Also coincides with the massive influx in Downshift laps, and the huge money they bring in. Compared to our 12 cars and breakfast, QR is still a business.

and this is also true. Even race car insurance doesnt cover your car on track. just for transport and storage basically.

What ever happened to the waiver?,this problem could be easily solved if everone had to sign a waiver stating that they understand that motor sport can be dangerous and that one would be held accountable in the case of any unforseen accidents, injuries or death that may occur at this event. That way the insurance companies dictatorship is reduced and everone can get back some sort of enjoyment, dont understand why evertime something unfortunate happens all anyone wants to do is make things more difficult than it has to be.You dont need to kill an ant with a sledge hammer do you?,just a thought.

Waivers don't hold a lot of water in court all that often unfortunately :(

Basically there needs to be some form of bargaining equality and sufficient consideration for a waiver to be upheld in circumstances like this, otherwise the courts have a long history of dismissing the waiver. This is particularly true where it can be argued that the waiver is an attempt to remove liability in the case of negligence. The argument would be structured that it was negligent of QR to allow people with no safety equipment, no vehicle scrutineering and no proper driver briefing out on track to go hell for leather.

understand what your saying, its a pity that ever year that goes pass your able to do less and less, and if theres anything that makes you happy and enjoy doing seems to come with a price tag attached,we are now so absorted with red tape that all its doing is creating a world full of people that get so sick of stupid dictatorship that they just give up on there dreams and just conform, since no matter what you try and do,they just screw you over anyway. At least ive got my memories of a better time and place where you could have fun without such crap, feel sorry for the youth today as this is all they know, and cant enjoy life like ive been fortuanate to have done.I know that this wont make any difference, but feels better to vent fustrations sometimes.

hang on 50 bucks ( or 35 ) for passengers too..... :- /

For non members yes, we run these events primarily for members but welcome non members to come out and have a look.

:-/

might stick to down shift happy laps ...100 buck is a bit steep

DS charges $60 for a driver and $20 for a passenger. $80 for two.

Ours is $50 and $50. So yes, if you bring a passenger is more exxy.

However, if you're a member, it's a $10 saving on this and about $25 saving on sprints.

If you aren't bringing a passenger and are not a member, you're still saving $10 with us.

If you are a member, you're saving $25.

Being a cams affiliated club, we provide benefits for members primarily. Our members get discounts at companies small and large. Chris, one of the best auto Leckys in Australia, offers official club members serious discounts. Also, we get regular discounts at companies like repco. This weekend members, if they've applied for the appropriate program, get 30% off!

Need more reasons? ;)

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
