Hi all. Amazing site and knowledge base. I have just purchased a mr30, basically stock l20et except for front mount cooler and different turbo. Some may have seen/know of car. purchased off ebay however been sold/changed hands a few times in last few years, faded black paint job, gold wheels.

About to start tearing it to bits so cage can be fitted. Need advise ,what engine to transplant. Building to a budget however the easier the conversion the better. From what I read no point playing with the current power plant. Any advice gladly accepted.

Have searched heaps of threads however I'm thinking a rb20 should be the go, chasing around 200rwkw, to start anyway. Open to suggestions......

Cheers,

Skip the RB20 and go straight for an RB25, if you're going to go to the trouble of putting an RB in. They don't cost much more and parts are easier to find. A free flowing exhaust and boost controller alone will give you the 200rwkw. With an RB20, you would be looking at a turbo upgrade + ECU + injectors to do the same safely.

Thanks Birds. I'm new to this turbo and nissan game. Normally boot headed, supercharged v8s. I, thinking its probably best to get the conversion done by someone in the game. I thought as much re the rb25 after posting. I'm in Melbourne, in moonee ponds actually so if anyone can recommend someone to do the transplant would be much appreciated.

Runs a stubby 5 speed so unsure at present what needs to be done regarding gearbox, mod or replace.

Actually, change of plans. I'm going to leave the l20et in place, for moment anyway. Will pull out and freshen up, see what I can get out of her. Give me a chance to sort out handling/brakes before decent hp installed.

Cheers

Hi all. Suggestions on who to rebuild my l20et in Melb. Would Edge performance in sunshine be worth a visit? Good reviews on this forum. No doubt I will ring them just keen for input.

I will start a build thread with progress of this little machine. Starting the pull down next week.....

Hey mate...

HeadSpec in Clayton do engine rebuilds and SAU Vic members get 5% off, so that's always an option if you want to sign up for club membership (discounts sometimes outweigh the costs of memberships!).

If your serious about it I can shoot him a message about it for you

Hi all, let me know what parts of interest you may have for my R30 track car build. No doubt lots of stuff out there so if your looking to sell, give or barter for the international currency, alcohol please let me know. And no, I don't offer. Free collection for all things junk ;) I'm in Melb so freight an option for right stuff. Basically looking at suspension, brakes and drivetrain stuff.

Cheers

    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
