Where have fellow M35 owners in victoria had their shift kits installed? Or can it be tackled as a diy..?

Found the shift kit just not sure who to trust installing it.

Wholesale autos wanted $1000+ for the kit and install, seems a bit exxy..

$1000 is actually fairly reasonable, Kewish auto's did mine and I paid $1200.

I can do it for half what Kewish want. ;)

Not really, the auto controller causes most of the gear lag. If you want it to drop down quick you need to stab the pedal, then half the time it will shift instantly. (Usually :P)

Have you tried manual mode? I never use auto anymore as it always wants to be in 5th... Lag city on my car.

Also, summit racing has two kits for the RE5RO5A.

Wats the difference between the two?

Transgo's website isnt helping me much in deciding which is best or more suited to my car..

Older thread and probably more info out there. But looking to get a shift kit in my m35. Can anyone recommend someone to install in NSW?

And are the links in this thread still the recommended way to go in terms of shift kitting an m35?

Finally got around to fitting my shift kit and trans cooler, just in time for winter!

Not overly difficult if you can follow instructions and want to save some coin.

Found this link very helpful: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/install-transgo-5eat-hd2-shift-kit-detailed-walkthrough-179771.html?s=dcd16933bed3a952245c81712c15ba64&

Definitely needed the 1/2" spade bit for one of the springs and make sure you have lots of rags handy!

Took a few progress pics:

In "D" it is similar to stock at light throttle but when you floor it, it is much snappier between shifts without being too clunky.

Maybe holds in gear a bit longer like having a power button.

Also found that when you floor it up to 60km/h and then back off it doesn't over rev and hunt for a gear anymore.

Similar to stock In tip-tronic on the upshift but find it smoother on the downshift.

Only downside I have found so far in a week of driving is when in "D" it tends to thunk a bit down into first when coming to a complete stop (but not in tip-tronic).

Overall happy with the mod and I will be using tip-tronic more often rather than just punting around in drive.

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
