Hi Guys

I'm getting a tune with Toshi shortly(replace ecu , dyno & road test) and installing a high flow turbo and transmission cooler so I can up the boost and push around 200rwkw

As it stands however this is my setup , just BPU

1997 Skyline R33 GTS25T AUTO

Straight through 3'inch from turbo back

Pod filter

Blitz turnflow cooler

HDI Boost controller

stock turbo (running at 12psi)

Splitfire coilpacks

Automatic box

What do you reckon I'm doing now at the wheels? (150 -160 rwkw?)

Ps: Just asking for a power figure, please keep the "put it on a dyno , skylines autos are slow etc... to yourself

Cheers :)

150rwkws now

170rwkw with ECU, tune and a T

Highflow turbo will need injectors and fuelpump.

Will net 240 to 250rwkw

Oh, only 170rwkw @ about 12psi with tune?

Toshi mentioned 200-220 rwkw max after ecu replacement, fuel pump and tune and also said it would not be wise to go above that , even with a high flow turbo as the auto box will not be able to handle it (it is also my daily driver , so not looking for a "dyno queen" or anything , just a responsive cruiser).

Did not think the auto skyline was capable of netting 240 to 250rwkw

It is - If you have supporting mods.

Remember Injectors, Fuel Pump, Nistune with what you already have.

Check the Hypergear thread.

Auto - I'm pulling 245rwkws on a highlow (GCG 2871) now out of puff. I expect Transmission safe up to 280-300kws.

I have a 34 GTT with Neo motor.

Was 170rwkws stock with FMIC, Exhaust + 7psi

thanks. Certainly not 100 , thinking about 150. Was just a bit curious . Cheers

Point of my post was, it's a moot question that you ask.

We don't know your engine or what power feels like to you, so it could be making any amount of power between those numbers based on what every other untuned R33 has ever made on a dyno. It could be down on compression, it could run inefficiently or restrictive, or it could be well kept and healthy. Too many variables at hand.

People can guess all they like, but no one knows, so playing "guess the kw of this setup" is so pointless that people even make fun competitions out of it at dyno days and the guesses are always all over the place. Therefore any figures or feelings you take from people who have never even driven your car are irrelevant. Did you know that a car tuned precisely on a dyno may produce 5rwkw more or less on the same dyno 5 minutes later? Now imagine how varied the guesses are when we don't have a dyno...

I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but I think you are trying to emotionally side step the hard fact that only a dyno will help you with your question. If you don't care about dyno queen figures, any figures shouldn't really matter anyway - only the seat of the pants feeling or measured acceleration difference that you are chasing. Thus, my recommendations are to choose modifications that are known to increase midrange pull, and forget all about the numbers, as the only time power figures are relevant is when showing the difference between tunes on the same dyno...and even then...variance.

:)

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
