Guys I'm in need of new tyres, pretty much narrowed it down to these 2,

Car is mostly street driven/spirited mountain runs with occasional drags, running 265/35/18 size

The nt05 seems like a great tyre but unsure on how many kms one would expect out of them?

And then I've herd nothing but great reviews about the nitto invo aswell, but not sure how they will go on a high powered gtr

Who Evers used these what are your thoughts, pros and cons?

I had Nankang rubbish on my 336rwkw GTST and I could spin 1st - 4th under acceleration would spin wheels at 130+kph lol (was well setup suspension and diff wise too) threw the invos at it and changed my car COMPLETELY would only spin if I tromped 1st then a lil bit of a spin into 2nd then nothing but traction! Great tyre! Also great in the wet!

I had nt05s on my gtr for awhile. Thought they were a pretty good tyre, but I was stuck for choice being 19in fpr a decent price. You may be better with something like a ku36 if its cheaper?

Without knowing to much about the invos, would say the main difference of the nt05s would be better suited for track work, but may not notice the difference between the two on the street. Execpt the invos will probably be quiter and get more kms.. I would expect more than 10k kms in the nt05s though I think.

With as much power as you have, I wouldn't even consider the Invos and go to the NT-05s - but i haven't used either.

If you join SAU NSW, you can get a deal on Federal RSRs which I have used and think are great (they are available in that size). RSRs are treadwear 140 compared to NT-05s @ 200, so should be a lot more grippy but wont last as long. I'd use RSRs if I had your car. No point in having huge power if you cant use it.

Hankook RS-3 and Potenza RE-11 are rated at 200 UTQG. Would you say they're better than the Federals? I read somewhere that the NT-05 is 'better' than RS-R, never driven on any tyres mentioned so I can't say, but fatz doesn't like the Federals.

How often will you be driving the car? The NT-05 if obviously not as good in the rain and won't last as long as the INVO, but with the extra contact patch, will grip better in the dry. The Corvette people love them.

Daily driving = INVO

Weekend car = NT-05

I'll be looking at putting NT-05 on once my current tyres are gone. Falken FK452 doesn't cut it any more for me :(.

The RSR wont grip up on mine so i have got some RS3 for the rear... Unfortunately i couldn't get the same for the front as they are pretty much all sold out everywhere!

Boz said too my that the RS3 was the best 140 tread wear tyre in its class from his personal experience and he should know :yes:

The EVO guys all foam at the mouth about the RS-3. They are a seriously good tyre.

Well i just had 275 rears fitted so fingers crossed they are as good as they say!

you need something like R888s or something?....

they were unbelieveable on the gtr.

Will be getting a dedicated track rim and tyre setup later this year man ;)

Car was just cornerweighted etc so will see how it feels!

I'm leaning towards the nt05 which has a 200 treadwear rating so should still have an ok life span under normal conditions

I've currently got ku36 been on the car for almost 2 years and for the last 6-9 months they have become the loudest most annoying tyres I'm changing them and they arnt even finished yet, proberbly done 15 passes at the drags and daily driving over 12000kms

They have a treadwear of 180

The KU36 are shit for that, they feather badly in the inner edge part!

RSR are much quieter and are OKish.... Even though they are a 140 treadwear they have lasted quite a while on mine!

    • Pads for R32 GTS-t, R32 GT-R non V-Spec (Sumitomo), R33 GTS-t and R34 GT-t are all interchangeable. R34 GT uses a 2x piston caliper, hence it didn't fit.
    • Checked with amayama and nope, the full S2 manual set is not available anymore. Unsurprising, but still disappointing as the ? on availability gave a glimmer of hope.
    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
