That is extreme.. I don't do much highway driving, but the best I have done in the past was about 730km with just a smidge under 1/4 tank showing on the gauge. Wasn't economy driving.. sat on 100-110km/h, 4 people in the car with a boot load of luggage. After re-filling the tank, it worked out to 7.6L/100km. theoretically, an 80L tank should be able to do over 1000km with that figure, but no-way would I push it that far!

Hybrids don't do that well on the highway anyway. They shine in the city.

@sonicii So the tank size is 80L yeah? Cze I have a friend who has a 2005 V35 coupe and he keeps saying that his car does not have a 80L tank.. is it different from series 1 to 2 in terms of fuel tank size?

According to Nissan Japan, both S1 and S2 sedans and coupes have 80L tanks.

Yes they are 80L trust me :)

I have filled up 76.41L at a servo & was still running on Reserve at the time..

Petrol Light can take you 75kms from memory :)

I was trying to look for my notes before posting my response, but don't know where I dotted them down!!! :(

Here we are...

The 14.7kms per Litre & 15.7kms per Litre snap shot readings prior the English Conversion.

I have managed 16.7kms per Litre but no snapshot for proof...

I will upload my 'Hypermiling' records with the English Coversion readings in April :)

Same with the M35 Stageas, the gauges seem fairly...approximate. I've noticed mine now seems to get down to a bit below a quarter, then bounce back up to a bit below half. I've just taken to filling up every 4-500km and seem to get 50-60 litres in the tank at that point depending on the mix of driving.

You can fix this with a cotton tip :-)

Take your back seat off, open your fuel lids, pull out the sensors and clean the metal contacts with the cotton tip.

Make sure you change the Orings for the tank lid, good opportunity to change the fuel filter too.

Correct, my V35 Skyline would always show over full for at least the first 40-50 kms :)

Mine does the same. At first I though my fuel sensor was faulty as id didnt start to drop until I had done 50-60kms.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone with an auto coupe worked out the fuel consumption if they only drove with the little switch near the shifter set to snow or power? I think it would be interesting to see if snow saves you fuel, or if its just a rumour...

I doubt it would make any improvement.. in fact it may make it worse.. you would need more throttle input to accelerate the same, meaning you have more TC slip, which wastes power in heat.

These engines don't really benefit much with lower RPM with economy. My V35 returns better highway fuel economy than my wife's J31 maxima, despite the V35 running about 500RPM higher at 100km/h

I am getting 6.5L-6.8L per 100kms travel readings so far.

That is from Sydney to Newcastle distances & cruising between 90km-115km p/h depending on hill or downslope!

Tomorrow & Thursday is the time where I start to test it out further as I have 1,600km to do :)

I have finally completed the testing over the weekend @ Hay Plains, NSW.

Balranald to Hay.

6.0L/100kms (60-65km p/h) Distance: 1,333kms!

6.1L/100kms (---) Distance: 1,311kms!

6.2L/100kms (70-75km/p/h) Distance: 1,290kms!

6.3L/100kms (---) Distance: 1,269kms!

6.4L/100kms (---) Distance: 1,250kms!

6.5L/100kms (---) Distance: 1,230kms!

6.6L/100kms (---) Distance: 1,212kms!

6.7L/100kms (---) Distance: 1,194kms!

6.8L/100kms (---) Distance: 1,176kms!

6.9L/100kms (---) Distance: 1,159kms!

7.0L/100kms (---) Distance: 1,142kms!

Formula: 80L/6.0L=1,333kms

Consumption depends on speed, throttle pressure & endulation (flat to hills).

My constant consumption sits on 6.8L on the highway :)

Fuel Range Readings are nearly always innacurate.

As it requires hundreds kms of driving on the same fuel consumption profile for it to deliver an accurate reading!!!

But the above math formula does the work for you :)

I have a 2001 300GT, it does about 12.5L/100km daily (driving to work, a bit start and stop, but also some motorway driving, about a 20km trip each way) and 10L/100km on the motorway.

      Yes I can see how that would put you off HFM, especially with the price of good quality brake fluid. From what I understand it as you say the BM50 is the standard BMC for a R32 GTR, I must admit I would like to go far a Genuine Nissan BM57, but lack of cash prevents that at present. With the price being so close between the genuine BM50 and BM57 a BM57 New it seems a better choice as you gain that 1/16 bore size with the BM57, I would be interested in how much difference you feel with the BM57 fitted. I am going to take SteveL's advice in the short term and see how much actually comes out of that proportioning valve vent and save up for the Genuine Nissan part. Thanks for clarifying the HFM failure

      Thanks mate. I just got the post inspection 1/2 done from state roads when the starter motor packed up, either that or the car alarm system is having trouble.  OEM part number 23300-AA112.

      Hi, I though I was coming to an end in finding a replacement starter motor for a rb25de neo. I came across a starter motor from Taarks and a message below stating: Direct fit. 11 Tooth count. All below part numbers have been superseded to 11 teeth. Can some body shed some light on going from 8 teeth to 11 teeth apart from 36-month / 25,000 km warranty for passenger vehicles to 12 Month Warranty. Compatible with the following Nissan part numbers: 23300-20P00 23300-20P01 23300-20P05 23300-20P10 23300-20P11 23300-AA111 23300-AA112 23300-AA300 23300-08U10 23300-08U11 23300-08U15

      Low battery? Maybe check capacity? I know first-hand, on BMWs if your battery drops below 80% capacity, it starts causing strange issues.

      8.5 +37 = should fit rear, but I think it'll hit on front. What you want is low 30s/high 20's front, mid 30's rear. That 17" screenshot you posted looks good, I'd run it on my R32 (but that's long dead now). For tyre sizes, my rule of thumb is: 8': 235, 9": 255. But that's just my opinion. Nismo sizes: 18x8.5+35/18x9.5+38 is a good starting point.
