bigmikespec
Thanks for the input guys. At the moment it looks like im sold on the 7175 (GT42) turbo.. Ive decided to lower down my power goal to something more streetable (650kw), GTX4202R Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/451468-gtx45r-rear-housing-choice-on-rb32/page/2/#findComment-7441019 Share on other sites
Tyranus
I could go that, but im leaning onto the Precision atm.. My friend is getting his car tuned this week (26/30) with the 7175 (GT42) 1.12 a/r im curious to see what kind of figure he puts out. Im going to use his car as a guideline.. I know of someone who also has a 26/32 with a GTX4202R his making 630awkw on 29psi and he claims that he gets full boost at 4500rpm. Rbdirty30
If I knew a gt42 would hit full boost by 4500rpm I would of brought one instead of my 6766 for my new engine oh well Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/451468-gtx45r-rear-housing-choice-on-rb32/page/2/#findComment-7441368 Share on other sites

GTRPSI
I would check the prices, and check rebuilding costs before making a decision......then take it from there. We went precision 7175 ONLY because we go it new for a ridiculously low price after someone abandened their drag build and it was perfect for what we were targeting. I would have prefered the 7175 GT42 style though..... bigmikespec
Because results speak volumes So does a compressor map; and it is not subject to different dyno, conditions, etc Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/451468-gtx45r-rear-housing-choice-on-rb32/page/2/#findComment-7441765 Share on other sites

Ask him for the dyno graph, what compression and cams he is running. Would be interesting to see 29Psi at 4500Rpm. If true then our 7175 with .96 housing will be on song earlier or about the same being a 3.0 bottom end if compression and cams are similar. bigmikespec
You can look at you compressor map all you like I'll look at cars running 8s in street trim Yes I don't disagree that results are important but results coupled with choosing the right compressor from a map is the ideal scenario. I am interested to know why people choose otherwise, if they cannot offer any other reason other than they saw a result on the internet then that is fine with me. GTRPSI
No he is not ignoring, thank you for the suggestions, he has just pulled back and watching. My last words to him last time we spoke were sit back and wait to hear and see more results for the 6870, dont rush in now as its still early. As is said to him, could be what he was looking for. His turbo and manifold purchase will be made last, now he has his RB32 bottom end to be built, his head is ready, then study results and pick the turbo....... jet_r31
not real smart, the camshafts should always be chosen when the turbos chosen, unless your conservative, which you havnt been.. the motor is way over cammed for anything smaller than a gt45 with a big hotside, your just costing yourself response for no reason at all.. cheers darren Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/451468-gtx45r-rear-housing-choice-on-rb32/page/2/#findComment-7454358 Share on other sites
GTRPSI
Hes certainly not being conservative. Cams were chosen by the engine builder and cam manufacturer based on his Nitto 2.8 stroker and planned use, now with the 3.2 its changed the game, cams will be simple enough to swap over when the time is right should he want more bottom end. Remember he built it one way, then sold the bottom end to go 3.2 so some chages to the head may be needed.
