Hey guys, I am new to Melbourne after moving down from Sydney a while back and do not know any other R35 GTR owners in Melbourne.

I am keen to get out there both on the track and drag strip. How often do the drags run at Calder? Their event calendar on their website doesn't show any upcoming street meets.

What about track days? Phillip Island?, Sandown? When, who and how do you organise these?

Do any of you Melbourne guys ever meet up for events or even a strop out of Melbs?

Cheers

the calder drags run often, but I think are closed down for a xmas break... I noticed the long gap too :(

Winton does test and tune days. The R35 GTR scene is kinda quiet from what I've heard, but no shortage of SAU members.

Hey Lance. Welcome

Some of the R35 guys that track are usually in attendance at all/most rounds of the SAU-Vic Championship:

http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/452502-2015-motorsport-championship/

It will have all your track needs covered for the year without a doubt. Also the club runs lots of meets, cruises and all that jazz with quite a few R35 owners as members there.

So for motorsport - Join up to SAU-Vic (you need to get a CAMS license for PI/Sandown) and come along for some like minded fun and plenty of advice from those that have done it all before ;)

You could even bring your VF GTS if you wanted, one of the regular track attendee's has one and I usually punt around in my R8 at the moment - plenty decent spread of cars and people :D

There are also some drive days a few of us are looking at doing at some point too, such things usually discussed at track events and the like

Looks like you sorted yourself haha. Good-o.

Come down to Philip Island on the 8th (some of us are there on the 7th too). Should be at least 10 or more of us by the looks of it doing the round-roundy thing.

You going to enter as well?

Yep you need CAMS.

As you've signed up as SAU-Vic, you can now get CAMS... You'll need to email [email protected] .... Ask Anna nicely if she can hurry it along for you (or even email you your member and post the card out a week later), and then apply online @ CAMS website.

Should be able to sort it by next week if you get on it fast.

Then you have your CAMS cards, Club Membership card - and round and round you can go with us :D

You'll obviously need to meet the supp reg requirements too (fire ext, helmets blah blah). So have a read there.

    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
    • Sounds good, we will aim to be there! @The Bogan I'll give you a shout if you are heading up to campbelltown for the meet too.
    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
    • Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
