First, I have a search impediment. Deal with it.

HI, I have an RB25DET with a new alloy radiator and am wondering which coolant to use? The car came with an alloy radiator but it got corroded and turned to shit. It had green coolant, but not sure what brand. Ive previously had bad experiences with Tectaloy, so Im thinking (hoping) they used that.

Has anyone used anything like Waterwetter? Can we get products similar to that in oz?

Has anyone used red coolant in an RB?

Cheers

I use pre-mixed Tectaloy in 3 of my Skylines without issue. The GTR for a decade.

Both stock and alli radiators. R32 GTR, R32 4 Door, R34 GTT and a Liberty

If you have had an issue it was already corroded, or you have mixed red/green coolant without a proper flush.

If you add water make sure it's distilled as mentioned above.

I have seen different brands of green coolant do the same thing. Flushing the block until it runs clear, or 5-6 times is the only way to be sure.

I have always used tank water without issue, the local Natrad bloke swears by normal tap water. We both agree it's the mixing of brands that causes the corrosion, not the water quality.

The best option is Evans coolant. No boiling, no corrosion and no expansion by removing water from the equation altogether.

Just keep in mind the possibility of stray electrical current (Electrolysis) within the cooling system which can Eat away at your radiator.

Fancy name coolants still will not stop this.

Using Nulon LLC premixed coolant. Got it on sale bargain!

Is this more a problem with aftermarket alloy radiators.?

    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
    • I do have loctite 243 and 246 and a few more models. I could drill it now in place and make new threads for m12 and order an4 - m12 coupling and fit that to the turbo. Run a braided hose to the EBC which I could get a an4 to 1/8npt
