There is so much info on our cars available for free, be it on this site or others, such as MyG37.com and the like. You just need to be prepared to do a little searching for it.

Otherwise, the lazy pay up. Simple! ;)

I agree, however there's a 'collector' in all of us - and some may see this of value (having an unofficial - 'official' - translated owner's manual) in hard copy form (opposed to printing off info on forums).

I don't think you'll find this book online for free. It is the one for our car.

Yes you can get the g37 and the like online.

$20? Makes your car more appealing to a new buyer when the time comes too.

For the resale appeal, I can understand that. Otherwise, I'm happy to spend that $20 on something else, like my whopping fat insurance premium for two cars coming up in a couple weeks. :/

$90 a month with justcar

Right. So $1080 a year with Just Car, for whatever the insured value you're referring to.

To compare with my policy with Shannons, two vehicles - the BA wagon insured at $6,500 and the V36 insured at $40,000 - a premium of $3060 for $46,500 total, so about three times your premium.

However, I get to choose my repairer and I also get first dibs on the car for a buyback if it happens to be a write-off. Just Car, being AAMI, has no such policies. There's a reason why it's so cheap. If I insured my Maxima with Just Car back in 2006, instead of being insured for $9000 including the modifications such as the MoTeC ECU and turbo bits, there's no way I would've seen any of the high value items back for me to either reuse or resell. In effect, for the $900 a year that I paid in premiums back then, I saw those premiums back after selling off the MoTeC ECU itself.

If I only had the BA to insure, then of course I'd go for the cheapest option just because the car means nothing to me. I'm sentimental about my V36 though.

It all depends on what you want out of your policy. Cheaper is always nicer but you have to consider what options you value that you may be missing out on.

HAH! If only! Late 30s here. Looking at your location, I'd say that's why you're paying $1200 less than me per year. Don't forget insurance companies also judge you by where you live too, even if you think it is a good neighbourhood. :/

Pfft? Me get offended about my neighbourhood? I've got other things actually worth giving a stuff about. I'll leave it up to the sensitive little princesses to get offended about people ripping on where they live. :)

Sigh...my 08 PV36 SP insured for $32k. Paying $134 per month with JustCars. I'm 28....how are you getting it at such a low price...

Shannons wont even talk to me...sadly.

Interesting... It's seems your insurance policy and mine are nearly identical... 2007 PV36 Skyline 350GT Type SP insured with Just Car Insurance for $30k @ $130 per month (including Rating One Protection)

PS: Nissan "Skyline" is not even available as an option to select on Shannon's Insurance online Quick Quote system... How did you insure your Skyline with them WogBoy?

Edited by Sikahalv

Sikahalv. online quick quote, what's that?? I don't mess with that crap :-). I talk to humans! By the way both my vehicles are insured for a total of 90K. When I got my 370GT it cost me 50K (I've had it since 2009), so my ageeded valve is much higher.

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
