Help With Clutch Choices

Hello

I am choosing between clutches for my car.

I am looking at the Nismo Sports Clutch Copper Mix. I have access to a new clutch plate, just need to buy the clutch pressure plate and flywheel.

A ORC 409D I have access to the pressure plate and I think the fly wheel, but I have to buy the clutch plate

A Exedy clutch (not sure which one) new. Have to buy completely

My car is a R32 GTST, the mods I have now are intake, full 3 in turbo back exhaust with sports cat, EVC 5 with boost set at 13.9psi, return flow front mount intercooler.

I plan on buying the parts I need and having the car tuned to about 350-400 hp.

Which one of these clutches would be good?

What a about Spec and some of the other brands?

I will use it for the street, highway and once a month at the track.

There is so much information available all you have to do is search for it instead of creating new threads every time you have a question.

Have some initiative in self learning then once you can't find a solution to your question ask or see a qualified mechanic who is probably going to install it for you some advice.

You have multiple options on which brand of clutch to buy depending on your power level.

Huge range of websites online and probably shops you can order from also.

No no yoshiii is kinda special, has lots of strange ideas, of which few will probably be realised, so needs spoon feeding he may otherwise need to search for forums on how to live

I've researched about them. I am trying to get people's opinions.

If you don't want to help, the stay the... off of my post.

Just so you know, I do my research and I have a aftermarket clutch(new )set that was given to me, but it's for the track.

Google. There is one thread that is at least 30 pages long telling you everything you need to know

Look up npc clutches

Tried the website, but when I click on the links on their site, it goes to a medical website. Maybe they havent been keeping up their website.

Yes I have researched. I have found a couple different ones I want to use, I am asking for opinions because maybe someone has used a particular brand and model that I listed and can give me feed back from their experience.

Everyone here is so quick to say search search, well I did search, I came here with specific models. This is a forum where people are supposed to be able to ask opioions, find feed back and so on.

I will install the clutch with some help from people who know how to properly install the clutch. I can go to a auto work shop for people who work on their own cars, that I am able to do many different jobs on the car. I dont have to go to a paid shop for everything. I have done quite a bit on my car and was taught how to do quite a bit, but the things I ask are either because I dont know and cant find the info I am looking for or I want to get knowledge and opinions. That is how a person learns.

The problem with asking mechanics here is that each shop has their own perferance, if its a retail shop like Autobacs or a dealer shop or some other shops, they will not install anything that is not considered "Vehicle registration certified" or if you dont have the special registration done showing that the car was registered officially(paying extra fees) with the aftermarket approved for road parts. Also some shops dont have the answers. I asked Nissan about the Nismo clutch parts. They didnt have any answer. All that they would say is that it is not legal to use it on the road. It is legal but since its not a OEM Nissan part, they wont put it on the car, but you can order Nismo parts from them.

Where I live is close to the Nissan OEM parts factory and Nismo Parts factory, so easy to get parts new.

If you are going to use a Nismo coppermix then you need the new pressure plate that you asked about before. You can buy a Nismo lightened flywheel but some clutch experts don't recommend them and neither would I for your car because of the changes it creates with your car, others may recommend differently. Just make sure you machine the stock flywheel.

You should notice the Nismo will feel much like a stock clutch and not very hard to press the pedal compared to some aftermarket ones. Noise is also minimal or non existent much like a stock clutch but more durable.

It is also recommended that you don't change Master or slaves over to Nismo with the new clutch, you can retain the stock ones.

Make sure you take the time to install it properly, bleed it properly and have the clutch pedal adjusted to the right amount and allow the clutch to wear in for a bit before you decide to do any launches with it.

While you have the chance, replace all of the bearings you can access that aren't provided with the kit so you can freshen up car a bit. Rear main seal, input shaft bearing, etc might be worth inspecting and getting those items replaced also if you can get the parts quite easily.

Yeah , I had the same experience with the "go search" bit and some are long and drawn out , when it would have been easier just to give you their opinion in half the words.

The trouble searching is that when you finally find the topic you are interested in it can be 5 - 10 years old and you have to try and get it started again and as there are new products coming into the market place all the time.

The good news is there are a lot of blokes on this forum that will give you great advice and help whenever they can and for a bloke like me that knew/knows nothing about modifying cars it saved me a lot of time and money.

I found if you google your topic it can lead you to some threads on SAU and go from there.

I just had a coppermix twin C Spec installed in my R34GTR and did have a Nismo slave Cylinder installed with it, it is great to use. Peddle takes up close to the top, this was good for me as I am a short arse and could go back a click or two and make my driving position better for me, haha

I guess google is hard to operate for some.

You can limit search results to country, website, age, particular keywords etc... Its really not that hard...

Ive been a member since 2006, have started approx 8threads...

Have modified my car extensively with knowledge gained from sau and the rest of the net... Mostly using google searches...

So when someone says search, its because chances are someone has asked the same questions previously... 20yr old car, heaps of people have them and modify them and yep its all been done before...

I dare you to ask me a question i cant find the answer to on the web...

      You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.

      So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.

      Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik

      Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
