Hey all,

I've been searching for days online (everywhere) and I'm absolutely stumped on how to use a Compact Flash card in my V36 Skyline...

This is what I have:

  • 2007 Nissan PV36 Skyline 350GT
  • Bose Stereo + Music Box + CarWings Navigation + Bluetooth Streaming
  • Lexar Professional 400x (60MB/s) 8GB Compact Flash

I've looked through most Japanese menu's in my V36 Skyline and gone through all inputs / sources and no where does it mention or indicate that it can see or read my compact flash card (which is brand new).

Thank you in advance for any help / advice.

I have found that my 8GB compact flash card also didn't work but my 4GB card worked fine.

Press the Disc button till you get to the CF option, cycle through the music box, cd, bluetooth, CF.

copy the MP3's onto the CF card, the max number it can read is 250 items or something like that.

the CF card needed to be in Fat 32 or something can't remember can check late tonight.

I haven't tried to use my card reader yet, but as a side note.. from what I have been told, the card reader will play music and can be used to copy track titles over to replace no-name track titles in the music box, but cannot actually copy music from the card to the music box.

Thanks for your help guys, I worked it out.

  1. First you must perform a full format (not quick format) of your Compact Flash card on Windows (as Fat32 file system) - takes a few minutes
  2. Once completed, you must copy over music in the following directory structure (no more than 2-3 folders deep, eg: 8GB CF > Folder > Folder > Song.mp3)
  3. Place Compact Flash card into the CF Reader in your V36 Skyline whilst car is turned off
  4. Afterwards, navigate via the 'Disc' button through Bluetooth > Music Box > Disc > CF and press play :)

I currently have 200+ songs and a folder structure (only two levels deep) using my Lexar Professional 400x 8GB CF card and it's working great! Super quick to navigate songs and load up + excellent sound quality!

Hi everyone, I am having the same issue. Formatted a 2gb and a 8gb card using FAT32 format. However when I cycle through the sources, CF is not even mentioned. No options on CF whatsoever.

There is CD, Radio, Music Box, Aux and that's it. No bluetooth, no CF. Yet my sisters 2007 350GT Type S has those options, I also have a 2007 350GT Type S and the only difference is color.... Is there a way to check which firmware the system is?

The previous owner installed a TV Tuner which is plugged into the AUX RCA ports, but that's the only mod I can see that has been done.

Any advice is appreciated.

Try multiple cards, try older and smaller cards. There are some limits around the number of files ina folder, but for testing just stick a dozen or so simple MP3s (128-320kbps) in the root directory with nothing else on the card.

The CF input won't show up unless it can successfully read the card and the files on it.

For me It was the 3rd CF card I tried that worked (on my 2006 250GT) and on my newer 2009 V36 Crossover (J50) the CF card is gone in favour of a USB port... I also needed to try 3 different USB sticks before one worked.

FAT32 is the safest format as well.

Cheers -N

The answer is so simple... yet so ridiculous... The CF Reader / Entertainment System in our V36 Skylines will NOT recognise that you have a CF card inserted... Unless you have at least x1 mp3 file in the main directory... after that, you can have as many songs / folders as you want.

:domokun:

I am using a CF Card adapter with a SD Card....., this should still be alright??? It is formatted in FAT32 and has about 3x MP3's on it on the main directory. And my system is the SAT/NAV single CD player version.

Will try out some more cards this weekend.

This didn't work for me, I tried and it played up funny. Can't quite remember either it didn't show anything up, or it went veeerrry slow. Genuine CF card was the solution for me.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
