I wish I was at a stage where I could afford to add one to the garage, as they are the most evolved out of the 3, they look awesome and they were produced in so little numbers that I'm surprised it took this long for prices to start rising.

Yeap, if you want to pay premium at a dealer for a used car, or you could buy private and save.

I wonder how much the dealer paid for them? negating any repairs that may have needed to be carried out.

So around 72k cars produced. Of those, how many have gone to GTR heaven? *Very* conservative guess - 10%? That leaves around 64.8k cars in existence. A rich, first world economy of 319odd million people has just legalized importation of them depending on age. The middle east is going nuts as well. Worldwide, previously younger generations who are familiar and like the model (and there are lot) are reaching the age where they have serious $.

Don't need a crystal ball to see where this is headed. Simple math of supply and demand, no? :)

I'd of thought that it would depend on whether other countries want to import them from Australia, in terms of affecting our local prices.

Otherwise it's still the same people buying them locally so the only real pressure on our prices is that they're more expensive to import due to demand elsewhere.

My guess is the price pressure will force people to look elsewhere and decide that GT-R's really aren't that special (for non die hard fans).

just quietly even 44k cars is fk all compared to some of the older classics. And as RBN1 said there are a lot of people in the world.

Considering these cars probably won't peak in value for another 20 years we have a long way to go. But look at how much movement the R32 GTR's (let alone r34) have done in the past few years.

in 2011 i paid $12,000 for my GTR. It's currently insured for $40,000. And we have only just seen the tip of the iceberg rise. Honestly if in 20 years 32's don't push well past $500,000 i would be quite surprised TBH (honestly we are probably looking at a much higher figure). Now remember that figure wouldn't be worth what $500,000 is in todays money due to inflation and shiz. But basically i would expect rare models (the N1s, Nismos etc) to fetch over $1 mil. When you consider the average house price will probably be 1.2-2mil by then depending on where you live you start to get a figure of costing. Keep in mind i'm being pretty relaxed on those figures. Currently projections will be much higher than that.

TL;DR i would expect my 32 to pay off my mortgages in 20 years.

I would love to do some track driving, cannot imagine what it would be like to be going around a wide open road with no speed restrictions, trees, posts, gullies, cliffs, potholes, cows, Roos , one lane and cars coming in the other direction, must be heaven and a shit load of fun :)

Its not the SAU 34GTR owners that make me sour (well, not all of them) but the people you see at meets and track days in Vic. Again, there are some rare exceptions but there is a reason most of the 34GTR owners are not SAUVic members and follow others in the GTR car club to different cams affiliated clubs.

I remember more than one person complaining about how SAUVic wasnt limited to skylines only and wanting events/areas for GTR specific.

A lot of GTiR owners have the same complex. ...those dream boats have access to hard to find and very specific gtir knowledge and wont share it with "outsiders". You have to prove ownership of a gtir or they dont let you in. Im tempted to buy one, take all their info and then let it loose on the internet. GTiROZ are Cocksuckers.

Most of the GT-R owners I've dealt with to date (admittedly primarily SAU) have seemed fine?

I have noticed a lot more greek/lebanese owners on the GT-R parts/sales pages on FB which makes buying and selling interesting at times.

I have seen some of this type of thing though, given my S13 is a CA and not an SR/LS/RB.

If you're not buying a part/car, don't comment and certainly don't comment saying the car is shit/overpriced/ugly/ etc. While I'm all for making offers, don't be a tool if the OP says no thanks either.

I'd widen the net on this one and say the drifting community and also what I refer to as flat cappers have gutted S and R chassis prices for cars and parts with the whole YOLO attitude of spend thousands on a car then fire sale it for 5k. The entire market has suffered as a result. Can be good when I'm buying though :)

lol just sold some parts to one of the above for a 33 gtr

picked up part of the parts in person after making a bank transfer

then i got a letter from the bank saying he tried to retract the money 2 weeks after he picked them up

so yea not only are they loballers but shitkunts as well

    • My thought is if you were just moving it forward and the upstream geometry remained the same, then no difference at all. But because the current one has the filter direct into the AFM inlet, you effectively have the best chance of a completely symmetric air flow profile upstream, and in, the AFM, whilst the aftermarket inlet thingo has a (small, to be sure) bend between the filter and the AFM. That would bias the flow to the outside of the bend (downstream of the bend) which might well reduce the size of the signal seen by the AFM, for the same total flow rate. Having said that: If you're proposing to make your inlet look like a hybrid of your existing one and the aftermarket one, such that there is no bend where the filter is clamped on... then I say it will be just fine. If there is going to be such a bend, then, if you can align the insertion of the AFM blade such that it is at right angles to the plane of the bend, then there is a better than even chance that the centreline velocity where the blade is will remain more or less the same, and the velocity will just be a little faster to the outside of that, and just a little slower to the inside. **This is not professional investment advice and you should consult a suitably qualified ouija board, tea leaves or the intestines of a goat for more accurate prognostication.
    • Hi Tao, Thanks for your reply.  It's been a while and I managed to get the valve stem seals replaced with the head on the car.  Unfortunately this didn't solve my issue, the car still smokes a lot after idling (to be honest during idle you can see a bit of blue smoke from the exhaust), same after deceleration. I will try disconnecting the valve cover breathers, do I leave the PCV valve in? By engine oil drain pipe, do you mean the turbo oil drain?

    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
