Is there any hints/rumours/expected prices floating around yet?

Considering the R34 GTR was what $150,000 AUD brand new from japan?

Im assuming nissan has a different approach with the R35 though, and wont need to charge as much as the R34. Todays market, and any market, rarely buys cars over $150,000 in bulk so they will have to keep the price down, unless they aim at the ferrari and porsche market?

Also, whats the word going around on it being sold in australia?

Seeing the 350z has done well, i cant think of why they wouldnt go well with it here

I don't think many people will be able to afford the new GT-R..when Nissan said they were going to drop the Skyline name and just go with GT-R name. The sole purpose was to make it more prestigious to mix with the Ferrari and Porsches...obviously not as expensive.

I forget the approximate pricing guesstimate, but it was discussed over on PF that no matter how much...a Japanese sports car should not cost that much if they wanted to stay competitive. Do a search for the thread going back about 2 years ago.

Hi knore,

I can only tell you what I've been told by the dealer. As far as I know, we were the first to place an order on the "expected release of the next GTR" in australia, over a year ago. Obviously anticipating the release later this year, until our buddy Ghosn had his input on it, ut our order is still there.

We where told amongst other things, the price was expected to be around $130K. At the time of placing our order, we were told "forgot his name" the boss of Nissan AU, was in japan havng discussion on what engine choice AU would get..

I suppose we'll have to take it with a grain of salt for the time being, who knows, our main man Ghosn might suprise us again.. something like "we have dropped the gtr from the nissan line-up" ;)

he can kill the GTR, but he can't kill the skyline, simply because the Japanese community will disown him. The Prince Skyline, Fairlady, Silvia and Gloria is what started it off in 1960... he's taken away the Silvia, which was met with a slight backlash, who knows what couldhappen if he axes any more lines to bring in stupid SUV's for American Soccer mums

No such thing as a R35. You bettter edit that before Justin sees it ;)

Todays market buys more new cars than ever before, and tell me if you see the following cars on the road.

BMW 545i/540i (This model or last model)

BMW M3

BMW 7 Series (This model or last model)

BMW X5 (Top models)

Porsche 911

Merc E55

Merc AMG's (real ones, not kitted ones. Hello mesh! :) )

Merc S Class (This model or last model)

Merc M Class (top models)

Maserati (not that un-common now)

Audi A6 (Top range)

Audi A8

Audi RS4 and up.

Jaguar (don't know my models, i'm sure they have a few $150K+)

Can't really think of any others. But i know there are, relatively, a lot of $150K cars out on the roads and if this GT-R can match a 996 991 Turbo (which it looks like it can and THEN some) for LESS than half the price ($315K-$335K 911 Turbo) i think it will do very well considering how well new cars have been selling recently.

cheers.

EDIT: Can also see the new GT-R taking making a dent in the popularity of choosing 911 GT3's, GT2's as race cars. From performance AND budget benefits.

G'day all though I'd look in here for the first time . I sincerely hope the GT-R never wears a V8 . I think it would blow the entire giant killer culture that Nissan developed with these cars . What a pity Group A ended taking these awsome machines with it . The nuckle draggers still hate them .

Are there any sites in English with details of the VQ V6 turbo engine development , particularly the VQ32DETT ?

Also very interested in the e-AWD . Co incedentally I was asking a friend the other day if he though engine /alternator electric drive could work .

A bit off topic but are the specs of the Black R34 that Dirk whatsisname drove around Nurburg in the DVD GT-R available . The car/driver combination were unbelievable , speeds of up to 190mph and on overly stiff suspension AND it idled and drove sweetly at low engine speeds ! Show me a push rod V8 Commode that can do this .

Cheers A .

To be honest, I've never looked at English language sites/magazines for VQ32DETT info... even if there was an abundance, every western journalist will tip in their 5 cents on what/why/how Nissan are doing what they're doing.

I think the key here is to filter out assumption and verified fact. It can get quite confusing when articles are only two or three paragraphs long with so much info/speculation crammed into a few sentences.

I've never hidden the fact that I post up articles from "Holiday Auto" magazine because I like their articles. From the bunch of motor magazines on sale in Japan every month, Holiday Auto are the most conservative when it comes to breaking news and scoops. By this I mean some other mags post almost unbelievable dribble that has no connection to reality, while Holiday actually go into great depth explaining why they print what they print and connect the new article with previous articles they printed before. This kind of stuff the average foreigner misses out on because they don't know the language. I'm not saying I'm a master Japanese speaker, far from it, but my wife and I go through and translate every bit of "The Next GT-R" info we get our hands on and filter out the crap from the good stuff... thats the process anyway.

dicopotato, if you find any English language stuff that might be of interest could you post it up? Cheers

Good work Rezz, For those of us who may do more than kick tyres, you are the word on the street.
Cheers for the kind words  It's nice to hear from the "older" crowd around my age!!!
  • 3 months later...

I've lost all desire & hope for future skyines since Renault moved on in & they released a G35 *dam maxima / 350z*

I'd love for there to be an r35 with a new RB30DETT & that hard race looking exterior styling like the r34, screw all this euro / smooth looking crap, keep that for luxury cars, not performance cars.

It's sad to say that realistically the r34 GTR is the last & best Inline 6 TT skyline there will ever be.

Alteast when they do release the next GTR it better look hard! *but it wont coz of this crapy Euro trend* & Whats the go with a V6 & silly electric motor... Electric? pffff You cant mod that...:talk2hand

    • Pressure when IDLING, is meant to be 51PSi... So that amperage value needs to go up a fair chunk... I'd personally be factoring for more like 12amp at least on those runs, and at that point you need to hope the already there wiring doesn't drop you a volt or two, as that's a lot of fuel pressure flow drop off from 13.5 to 12V! Taking idle pressure of 51psi, means the pump will be drawing a MINIMUM of 9amps all the time based on your reading of the graph (3bar base, then allowing an extra 0.5bar for boost = roughly 51psi)
    • Hi all,  I am in the market for an R200 longnose diff out of a Z31 300ZX, or S12 RSX, DR30 skyline, or similar, in a 3.9 ratio.  Preferably a late model one with the M12 crownwheel bolts.  The only easy to find advert for one of these was my ad back in 2007 when I sold it on this forum.  I sold the diff as I had sold the car it goes to, but as it turns out, after 18 years I got the car back late last year, so now I'm looking for the diff !  If anyone knows where to find a longnose R200 LSD with the M12 crownwheel bolts, drop me a line at [email protected] - Bonus paid if soomeone comes up with the original diff (stranger things have happened !).  Cheers   Ben D
    • Hi everyone, I used to post here a bit from 2004-2013, when I owned various Nissans, in particular my S12 RSX gazelle, which was sold in 2007.  As luck would have it, after an 18 year hiatus, the car found its way back to me last year, and over the past 11 months I have had the pleasure of restoring it with my kids.  One thing that I am after in particular is a 3.9 ratio R200 LSD for it.  I actually sold the one out of the car here back in 2007 , and it would be incredible if I could track down who I sold it to, so I can see how they have progressed over the years (and to be honest, to see whether I can get the diff back !).  Anyways, hi all and let me know "where are the R200 Longnose diffs all at these days ?  Cheers Ben D
    • Arms will be the same as the G35 or 350Z, but as above, there was a change in the lower control arm where it connects to the ball joint.  That said, you can remove the ball joint cone from your old ball joints and fit them to the new ball joints.  To be honest, I didn't think the ball joints themselves were different. The main ball joint is a bit awkward to replace, you really need to remove the steering knuckle to press out the old one.  Some people have used tools to remove it in place, but it just seemed too hard to get to. If you are going to press out/in that ball joint, then you may as well just replace the bushings in the LCA and the compression rod.  You can buy the compression rod bushing from Nissan, but the LCA bushes, you will need to go aftermarket. Much cheaper than buying the whole arm.
    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
