Hi all, had the car couple months. Making 300kw. Overheating on freeway but cooled down in traffic then would rise up slowly. Drained coolant and replaced thermostat. Heater wasn't working when I got the car. Went to bleed via x2 head bleed screws, rear one bleed out but front one had nothing come out as car continued to overheat. Any ideas on the matter?

First try bleeding the system properly ( with heater set to full on - check that the heater is still connected - some people just block off the hoses when the element inside the car starts leaking). Clear the blocked bleed screw. Perhaps go the whole hog and jack up the front and stick a cut off plastic bottle in the radiator filler and fill slowly as you run the engine from cold.

Your cooling system could be full of rust and scale. Did you drop the bottom hose to drain it? What was the stuff like that came out? Try a reverse flush with a hose for both the block and the radiator. Does the radiator look OEM? If so it is likely due for cleaning or replacement. While at the radiator shop get it pressure tested for leaks. Get a new radiator cap.

Today I put in a triple core radiator, both bleed points bleed out with coolant, heater got abit hot. And temp sat in middle. Took it for a 20 min drive temp stayed fine until pulled into driveway. Rises till about 3/4 then we cracked off the top bleed screws again alittle air came out and temp dropped alittle but still sat just under 3/4. Definatetly a lot better than before but still rises slowly. Bleed with car jacked up plus coke bottle so done the right things

Is your stock gauge reading 3/4 or do you have an aftermarket gauge in which case what does it read in deg C ? Doesn't sound to me like its overheating now..

It's still a stock gauge. Doesn't tell me in deg c. It doesn't overheat for awhile I done about 5km of driving in traffic stayed about half way. As I got into the driveway slowly started to rise up again till 3/4. Top hose was hot but the bottom hose was luke warmish slightly hot if that makes sence, the heater was abit hotter but still not crash hot as what it should be, and now I got the big triple core radiator on it, new thermostat and new temp switch. Definatetly a lot better than the old radiator it would of just overheated in the driveway but it's got me puzzled

Heating up when stationary point to the fan. Is the fan clutch tired? Could be you had two problems and you've only fixed one.

Any idea on how to properly test the fan. Whenever cars on seems to spin ok

    • I used to have Walbro 255's when they were a pretty common update. (or were they 044? 040?) In any case I had a dirty tank. I thought the tank was good, but I would find the filter would clog in maybe ~50km of driving. If the issue persists, well, your fuel system or tank has crap in it that the pump is sucking up.
    • Hi. Ok thanks for the info. I/we do not know what tune is on that Nistune ECU so it is why there is stock ECU and that Nistune is for later when the car is done. I have guy who tunes Nistune and other ECU so i will then take it to him to see and properly tune for the car   And for the update. On 99,9% it is bad fuel pump. Which is wierd cuz it is like 2 years old(brand new walbro 255) and that filter (also brand new) was dirty.  I was alwaya pumped premium(100) on very good petrol station so i dont know how is that possible...
    • Dear folks My family members have 4 different cars : Triton 2015 and Corolla 2011 and Mazda3 2012 and Hyundai Elantra 2014 Looking to buy engine oil funnel spill free What I found are are below  https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BBTTJNKX?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image&th=1 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/145553221359?srsltid=AfmBOoqYBU6Ptw0LU_bAp_k67U3qkF97HHvePkA7iHZw8vUmiwoIRaRr https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09X23TCS5?th=1 Is there a funnel with attachment that fits most cars ? Don't mind to spend for a decent quality  Thx
    • Stock ECU (or more accurately stock tune) absolutely refuses to go over 10psi and behaves like you have seen. The Nistune is the same if it is the stock tune. If the Nistune chip has been tuned, the resulting tune could be literally anything for any combination of parts. The Nistune just makes the stock ECU Tunable.
    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
