Hello guys. I just got off the phone with ricky at raw brokerage here in the states.

He is saying to build a head will cost me 3200 plus usd dollars. Shit this was a shock for me, as im providing all the parts. I have bc guides, std supertech valves and dual valve springs. Buckets and cams. This price is for a port job inspection, mod for bigger cams, valve job, port and polish valve lash adjustment.

I want to know if this is a reasonable price seeing that im providing all the race parts and just looking to have some machining work done.

To me at this price, i can ship my parts and new nissan heads that needs no cleaning to Australia where the tech in my opinion is way better, as theres way more shops specializing in rb26 than in the states. To me this price is ridiculous. He might as well told me to f--k off. Am i wrong here.

Can you guys provide some shops that would happy do a similar job and list a price that they may charge. Must be will to ship them back. 3 heads in total. One head is fully stock just bc giudes. The next 2 is for full street/drag application. Oh and the 3200 each is for the 2 race heads. The stock one with bc guides installed is 2000. Wowf7fc2626c7b131e79921514fd67676e3.jpg

Hi Marcus,

There are very few places that have a "price list" that you can check out.  This guy is one of the few. http://www.lewisengines.com.au/gtr-rb26-2/

As you can see, he has a few options there that start at about US$1500 but can very rapidly get up and away to the same sort of money you're talking about from Raw.  Overall, probably still better value than Raw, but you have to factor in the shipping/customs costs etc etc.

I can't really speak to Lewis Engine's quality.  They have a pretty good reputation - no shockers that I know about.  I'd have to say I'm neutral on that aspect.  One thing that is true though is that they have certainly done a reasonably large number of RB race heads/engines and must know a reasonable amount.

I could recommend someone else here in Adelaide but he is a true expert.  Under constant demand and time pressure, he sets his price to weed out time wasters.  He can afford to - he's an artist.  Therefore I would expect that stuff might cost approx double what Lewis want.

Either way, you can only use the pricing from Lewis' page as a guide, because they have parts inclusions that you would be supplying.

This would be my choice. There charging 1750 USD. thats all machine work with me providing the parts. They have some good machines like a Newen BB 5 axis. Thanks like always GTSBoy i have heard of them but as for now im not racing that serious to pay that kind of price just to be weeded out as not serious. That shop is great just to rich for my blood. Maybe one day. I can already see myself buy some of these machines to deal with my own stuff and more so provide good service to the Caribbean market. I have spent a small fortune on these parts that i cant even fit in one shot. To me a long time to find new heads after my guides smashed my motor. Im doing it one last time. For my r33 and a drag gts4 that your aware of. Please dont count ourself out here guys. Port flow designs is just a choice im still willing to ship to Australia if its economically sound for me as my hp goals are about 800hp at the very best. Thanks in advance for all your suggestions.

Try an email to Rips   http://www.ripsracing.com/contact-rips-racing.html

He does a lot or work for customers world wide. He does aim for quality though so may not be cheap. Specify what parts you plan to supply and what work you want done and your power goals and end use for each head. It is quite possible to spend megabucks on headwork.

    • I dunno about that as a blanket statement. Pitwork is Nissan's "Nissan genuine" thing, and for stuff like timing belts, I have found them to be excellent. Of course, for things like oil filters, you always use proper trusted brands anyway, not whatever the OEM has taken to using.
    • Ahhhh... If you were putting 12V to the led in there, that's likely made it very unhappy. Chances are how you put power, was 12V across an LED that's meant to only have about 20mA through it at peak, and a forward voltage of about 1.8 to 2.4 volts. That circuit is likely only a 3V3 circuit, and will have a resistor in series with the led too. That's my guesstimate on that light, without having touched one.
    • Another vote for installing them and see how you go.  I mean, you already own them, why would you not fit them?
    • I have had too many of those over the years, my cars have a toolkit or at minimum a cheapy multi tool thing because its too easy to be snookered by some stupid plastic clip that stops you checking the battery terminal isn't loose.
    • Basically, if there is a part# on the nissan catalogue, it is a genuine part. There is a thing called "new old stock" which is stuff made years ago but never sold (or landfilled), but it is super hit and miss what you can buy. Other than some expensive Nismo stuff there is nothing new being made that suits these cars. The only time to be a little careful is (mostly in the US I think, but maybe Japan too), Nissan started rebranding some cheap crap maintenance parts like oil filters as "Pitworks"; stay away from them, if you are buying cheap just buy whatever the local car parts shop carries The three part numbers have an explanation on Amayama: 0V005 is auto, base style 0V015 is manual 0V505 is auto, hectic momo branded ones, maximum F&F points there!
