Strange Engine bay noise, Belts?

In the last few days or so, my car has been making a strange noise, especially when first starting. The engine sounds the same for the most part, but there is an extra noise which I am not sure how to describe, somewhere between a rattle and a whir, but it doesn't sound like it's coming from inside the engine. The car feels fine to drive, still makes power, but the noise is new and concerning. Anyone able to shed any light? I've attached a sound file, but not sure how clear it is really.

hard to say from the clip but I would not rule out exhaust leak in engine bay as a possible cause.

Ok, will start looking there, it does sound a bit further down the front of the engine bay though, and it's worse on startup than it is after I start driving.

alternator bearings?  A/C compressor bearings? water pump?

Thanks for the replies guys, sorry, just had a mental month. I replaced all the belts, that got rid of the screeching sound, the alternator belt was absolutely munched. There is still a bit of a noise, almost like a whir, but it's much better than before, my mate thinks my power steering pump might need a recondition. I'll probably just take it to a mechanic to get it checked out soon.

It could be your timing belt ! Might as well replace the timing idler pulley and tensioner while at it

So I'm pretty sure my idler pulley was f**ked, since there was a clunk driving home yesterday, I pop the bonnet, the belt is loose. So I got under the car ....
