Self leveling light problem

Hi guys,

I've tried to find something on the form but unfortunately I wasn't able to find someone with my problem.

Long story short, I'm not using a lot my car ,so most of the time is parked in the garage. Last time everything was working fine, few days ago I went for a ride and I noticed something wrong with the headlight. When I turned them on instead to leveling at the right position they went all the way down.

Actually I know there's somewhere in the back some sensor can automatically level the headlight, but unfortunately I have no idea where is and if the problem is relative to it.

Any help would be great.

Cheers

PS. The car is a CPV35 2006

PS2 sorry for my bad English.

Does it have a headlight height switch? If not, then check these

Strange that both drop, possible the height controller box died. You should be able to disconnect the motors on the headlights if so.

Thanks mate, I think I have found the part.5911885d5b5fc_IMG_20170509_1755341.thumb.jpg.72d54eec8d1f6426616cc00303748514.jpg

I tried to disconnect it and move it manually, but the headlights weren't moving.

I tried to disconnect the plug with the lights off, and when I turned the lights on, the motors didn't turn on and didn't lower the lights.  When I put the plug, back in, the motors lowered the lights down.

What do you think? Thanks for any suggestions or advice!

I'd need to get a look at a schematic to understand what's going on but I'd imagine there's a sensor, control circuit and a stepper motor. One of those three components will have failed. If it's an optical sensor, it might just need a clean with isopropyl alcohol. If it's a mechanical sensor, it'll either need a clean or replacement. If it's the control circuit, easiest approach would be to replace it but if it's just a dried out or shorted capacitor, that can probably be cheaply sorted out. If it's the stepper motor, you can determine that by feeding the appropriate pins with 12V to see if you get any movement out of it.

Again, without a schematic, hard to be sure where to begin with the diagnosis past the obvious mechanical bits.
