Alpha Omega Racing’s MONSTAR Ignition Kit for Skylines Group Buy

Alpha Omega Racing’s MONSTAR Ignition Kit for Skylines Group Buy

Hi all,

Alpha Omega Racing are running another group buy, but this time on their new MONSTAR ignition kits for various model Skylines.

Company:

Alpha Omega Racing - http://www.alphaomegaracing.com

I’m sure that most of you would know of Alpha Omega Racing by now, most likely because of their big brake kits which use the bigger Evo calipers. They also market a lot of other products for Skylines and Silvias, including one piece lightweight tailshafts, and now, upgraded ignition kits, allowing us to easily take advantage of the ACDelco LQ9 coilpacks (also known as LS2Truck or D585 coilpacks).

Product:

MONSTAR Ignition Kit (Version 2) to suit Skylines fitted with:

  • RB20DET
  • RB25DET (non-NEO)
  • RB26DETT

Note: The kit to suit RB25DET NEO is still in testing, if interested, please let me know via PM.

After testing on various vehicles on the street and track, including their own S15 Silvia which competed at World Time Attack Challenge, Version 2 was designed. It adds secure coilpack keying (CMM measured coilpacks, CNC machined recessing) and machined-through cooling slots.

Why use ACDelco LQ9 coilpacks?

  • Strongest coilpack used by an OEM
    • No misfires = more reliable power
    • Best throttle response
    • Increased mileage
  • Guaranteed perfect fit
    • Uses OEM connectors

Group Buy Conditions:

The group buy will run until close of business on Tuesday 30th May 2017. Anybody interested in purchasing an ignition kit as part of the group buy should notify me via PM prior to the end date so that I can add them to the ‘buyer list’. At the conclusion of the group buy (30th-31st May 2017), I will provide Alpha Omega Racing with a total tally of person(s) included in the group buy. A discount ‘coupon code’ will be provided to each buyer on the 1st June 2017 allowing them to get the appropriate discount in the shopping cart on the Alpha Omega Racing website.

Note: Production for this group buy will not begin until all orders are placed and payments are cleared. Unfortunately in some previous group buys some buyers have not followed through meaning a higher discount was applied for the number of actual purchases. Timeframe for production and delivery of the ignition kits is 9 weeks from payments clearing.

Prior to the end date (30th May 2017) all communication will be with me either via this thread or via PM. At the conclusion of the group buy, once you have been provided with the discount code, all communication will be between the buyer and Alpha Omega Racing. All shipping and payment details will be between the buyer and Alpha Omega Racing only. Any warranty on the product(s) will be provided by Alpha Omega Racing.

If you have any questions regarding the kit or pricing, please don’t hesitate to contact me either via this thread or via PM.

Cheers,
Tim

Hi Brodie,
Do you mind me asking what kit you have used to install the coilpacks and also if they are genuine ACDelco coilpacks?
Cheers

No kit just had them custom made to fit. Its a neo so no one makes a kit to fit >.
Nah mix of coils some are delphi, some delco n some no brand. Was just grabbing them from shops who had them local at the time.

Oh right, sorry didn't click that it was a neo. Definitely odd, I know a number of people running L9Q coilpacks on SR's and RB's (non-neo) without issue. What changes were made to 'custom fit' the coilpacks for your engine? I would also be suspicious of the varying brands of coilpack. Have you tried running the car with other L9Q coilpacks of all the same brand that havent been modified?

I originally bought splitfire lq9 coilpacks because they said they were more heavy duty but 2 f**ked out straight away. So bought 2 genuine coils to replace the two stuffed ones but then started having issues with the miss fire. Tryed different was of wiring them in. Tryed different spark plugs. Ended up removing the rest of the splitfire ones but in the end didnt fix the issue.

There is a small rod welded to the bracket that helps bolt the coilpack into one of the factory bolt holes. Tryed the coils not bolted in n still had issues. Tryed taking off that clip that holds the heat sink but made no difference.

I haven't tryed running all the same coils. Ran out of money and time when i was putting it in. The tuner pretty much gave up on it.
