V35 sedan

Hi guys, have been searching through this vq section and finally getting some knowledge about these imports!

decided to make my own thread and put all my questions in one place!

bought myself an 02 v35 sedan 6 speed manual, has sunroof and factory bose audio. Always had a soft spot for the VQ range so I picked it up knowing there was clutch issues although having receipts of a clutch replacement

after reading through the common slave cyl / master cyl failures, jumped under and found it is leaking from the high pressure hose that connects to the slave. Some heat shield was missing so maybe overheated and cracked. Hoping this is an easy order and straight replace from justjap

Also read about the horror stories of the 8 speed auto cvt failures, and how people have been replacing them with 6 speed manuals, i sighed with relief having baught the 6 speed, but then noticed an 'extroid CVT' badge on my rear window, and now think maybe this car used to be the dreaded gt-8? As my centre console doesn't fit correctly/missing parts, and appears to be altered (especially around the gear stick.

the left foot rest (on left of clutch) also appears to be missing. Is this removed from an auto or did manuals also come with them?

I have posted pics but using iPhone so may have to scroll down.

Looking at replacing the 20' chromies as tread is MIA and I hate chrome. Thinking of 17/18s with a more aggressive offset and concave design. Would +12 be enough to have a lil poke? Current wheels don't show any ET. Will get a staggered set of 8' front and 10' at the rear. Guards have already been rolled

Drivers side window motor likes to wind itself down so will be replacing it from a stagea once i find a local wrecker.

Will also get some tint on the front to match factory rear window tint (guessing it will be like my x-trail which had 20% from factory on rear windows)

Does anyone know if the Nismo square twin tips are from factory? Doesn't make the best sound so may replace it, or just a complete new catback

its a shame about the radio freq. seek range and unusable sat nav but thinking about chasing up chris rogers (strangely enough one of my closest irl mate's name haha) for a wiring harness to connect aux and possibly connect a reverse camera like a few of you have done, although the step by step tutorial is 7 years old and all picture links are broken haha.

thx for listening to me ramble on, would love to hear some feedback!

I think I saw this car on Carsales. I LOVE the sedan of the v35 and sometimes wish I had bought one instead of the coupe. I look forward to seeing what you do with this car and future mods. Im looking to have my Autobox replaced by a 6 speed, just havent found anyone who likes to work on these cars yet.

Good luck with it.

Cheers

check the build plate for the transmission code.  the CVT started with RE0R..... (I think)   the 6sp manual starts with RS6R...

But the centre console certainly looks like a bit of a auto/manual hybrid.

I also had the clutch hose spring a leak on my sedan, soon after working on the slave cylinder.  I just replaced it with one of these.

I have coupe 18x8 rims on mine, which have a +30 offset, with 245/45 tyres, I had to roll the rear guards slightly to stop them rubbing.  If you want to go with +12 and 10in rims, you will need lots of camber to prevent rubbing.

Factory standard exhaust was not Nismo and was round tips.

thx, ive ordered a z1 replacement braided clutch line but pretty much the same thing.

yeah it definately used to be an auto, nissan confirmed after checking the VIN

oh well, hopefully no dramas with this new gearbox. im going to try and source a replacement centre console from a wreckers. do you know if the sedan and coupe manual are the same?

anyone know if a vq25det turbo will bolt on to the vq35de fairly easily? not looking to make any crazy numbers but a lil boost without upgrading the internals possibly? 250kw or so?

  • 1 month later...

Has anyone modified cup holders in their v35's? Do stagea's come with any?

Curious to see if I can modify the old space for the tv tuner into some retractable cup holders lol

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
