GTR Virgin
Good morning all, I am wondering if I can call on the experience of others that have a great deal more knowledge than myself. Having just acquired an R32 I am trying to clean under the bonnet. I would like to remove the bonnet liner/sound deadening mat. My question is, do I just use a clip removal tool to pop those clips out or do you need to twist them and do something unusual to get them out as they do rotate if you spin the clip?? I don't want to try and pull them out then find I break one because they don't pop out with a clip removal tool.................... Any advise someone can give would be very much appreciated. HobboR34-GTT
Yeah just use a clip removal tool .It's inevitable that some clips will break due to their age .Just cover your engine with a drop sheet as when I removed mine crap fell down everywhere ! GTR Virgin
Thanks for advising. If this is the case where can I locate new clips as I want the car to retain its originality. Are these clips readily available and where could I purchase some?? Robzilla32
Just be careful with the lining itself as they are no longer available for the R32 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/472414-bonnet-liningsound-deadening-mat-removal-on-r32/#findComment-7855208 Share on other sites
tridentt150v
Repco sell them.....would be hard pressed to see the difference. And the plastic/ABS kit that SCA sells for under $10 works fine to remove the clips.
