Hey Guys,

incredibly new to owning a turbo/import as well as not very knowledgeable at all mechanically.

Picked up a R33 GTST a week ago.

Driving last night I excellerated (not flat but still a bit) and there was a loud pop followed by the engine shutting off.

I didn’t notice any smoke etc. left the car to sit for a few minutes and started it.

Ran rough for the first start then quickly went back to a standard idle and ran well at low RPM.

Nersed it home without hitting 0.00 bar. But if you try to excellerate more the it will not go at all over 0.00.

Thinking it could have been a pipe that’s blown off, but a quick look at all the intercooler pipes look tight and okay. In saying this I haven’t taken off any covers etc of anything else.

Engine wise car has few small modifications such as larger front mount, turbosmart E-boost street controller, different BOV, 3” Dump pipe and full exhaust, 200kw dyno time and has been really well taken care off service wise.

is it likely I have blown the stock turbo? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

It's an accelerator, and you use it to accelerate. I think excellerator / excellerated has something to do with spreadsheets, or with being excellent.

Thanks champ! apologies for not proof reading my post.

I’ll be sure to send you my assignments for a quick proof read before I put them in.

    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
    • Actually, I'd say all three are the automatic option. Just the different trim levels. The manual would be RSFS, no?
    • What Duncan said sounds right. Also, it looks like they only have the driver's mat. Not the rest. Because looking at the diagram: KG4911 is just the mat for the driver. KG4900 is the full set if I'm not mistaken and discontinued.   But, it looks like they may still have the full set for the manual S2. Might be worth checking for the other models as well as they seem slightly different. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6649-rb25det/misc/G49 Man, I'm tempted.
    • I dunno about that as a blanket statement. Pitwork is Nissan's "Nissan genuine" thing, and for stuff like timing belts, I have found them to be excellent. Of course, for things like oil filters, you always use proper trusted brands anyway, not whatever the OEM has taken to using.
    • Ahhhh... If you were putting 12V to the led in there, that's likely made it very unhappy. Chances are how you put power, was 12V across an LED that's meant to only have about 20mA through it at peak, and a forward voltage of about 1.8 to 2.4 volts. That circuit is likely only a 3V3 circuit, and will have a resistor in series with the led too. That's my guesstimate on that light, without having touched one.
