Hey Guys,

Im not very active on SAU, but thought I'd post my HR31 Coupe, hoping to get back amongst it, since the R31 scene is pretty well dead (well 3 people in the ACT, everyone has pretty well moved on).

I've recently finished a major cleanup of the outside of the car, as well as a conversion from the standard redtop RB20 to a Silvertop, loom & ECU. All the work has been done by myself and my mates, and I'm really proud of it.

Some pics at the Skyline Nationals in Goulburn:

with the 180:

I have some future plans for it, mostly continuing to restore it to as good condition as possible inside and out, and also some new bearings and rings for the motor, with a GTS-R Manifold, T04E, R33 side mount intercooler, external 38mm gate, and exhaust. Not really aiming for a power figure, but expecting around the 200 at the wheels on 10-15 psi.

I also have a black 180SX which I like to do skid pan days, track days and drifting events in, a VL Calais Turbo which I'm fixing up, and another R31 which I drive to work.

Hope to see some people on the weekend at the Snowy 1000 :)

The stagea is a great car. My mate Verms has an autech one. Great space and great power! the 26dett in those things are nuts.

Hi All,

My name is Brad. Long time reader, first time poster here.

Been frequenting the SAU forums for the past few months, until I finally registered as a member when I decided that I would take the plunge and get a Skyline of my own!

It took me about 2 months or so of searching, enquiring and inspecting many different R34s from all around ACT and NSW before I eventually came to own my "almost perfect" R34 GT-T.

I have had it for a couple of weeks now but haven't got around to posting on here till now...

2001 Model - Series 2

Pearl White

85,000 kms - not sure if genuine, but great condition leads me to believe it may be.

Manual

Factory Sunroof!

Basically 100% stock standard except for HKS Turbo timer and rear adjustable control arms and bushings (which I had installed).

Came with 20" rims on it and a spare set of 100% brand new stock rims which I have put on as I was not a fan of the 20s.

Note the number plates which I am stoked about! Just got lucky when I had to transfer rego.

Current plans for it are:

Remove stock solenoid and install manual boost control+boost gauge - as I think it might be overboosting...

Turbo back exhaust - Stock one is a little too quiet/restrictive.

Decent panel filter for intake

Black/dark grey 18" TE37 style rims - can't justify the cost for legit Rays TE37!

Then ECU + Tune once I've got it to a stage I'm pretty happy with.

Will be doing little details here and there, but basically just full "stage 1" mods and then I'll see from there. Just have to get back on top of money now after spending so much just to get it! ;)

The R34 GTR has always been a dream car of mine, and since I cannot afford to shell out for the "real thing" I settled for the next best!

    • I always wondered how you were supposed to buy a set of 24 buckets and somehow magically have every single one of them yield exactly the desired clearance. I would have thought you'd need to assemble a cam with either 12 "sample" or "example" buckets of known top thickness (or a single such sample/example 12 times over!!) measure clearances at every valve, and then do the usual math to work out what the actual "shimness" of each bucket needed to be, before buying the required buckets to make up he thicknesses that you didn't have on hand.
    • I now seem to be limited in power due to my rev limit/hydraulic lifters in my built RB25. I'm looking into converting over to Tomei solid lifters. Question for anyone that has done the conversion. I was always under the impression that when using the Tomei solid lifter conversion, you would also require new valves (Longer or shorter stems, I can't remember which).  I don't know where I got this idea, as so far I see no mention of this in any of the Tomei documentation. It just states I need the Tomei solid buckets, solid lifter cams and upgraded springs. As my head is already built, all I would need is another set of 1000$ Kelford cams, 500$ buckets and about 4H hours of my time installing and I'm off to the races!?!? There's no way it's that simple, I must be missing something?
    • I couldn't agree more. I should have started from the get-go with a NEO or solid bucket conversion. I started looking into converting over to solid lifters yesterday. • BRUH, one of the biggest mistakes of my life..... and i've had plenty ;[)
    • @Murray_Calavera iam just considering options 🙂 of course it is very expensive so that why i ask here 🙂  @joshuaho96 I looked at that GCG hybrid(i remember looking at it few weeks before) So this is "that" hybrid where i send them my turbo and they upgrade the inside to Garrett stuff and then they send it back. It cost around 1200-1300 USD which is FAR cheaper than the HKS and it is what iam looking for(i just do not have experience like this...to send something off to "upgrade" ) @tylink720 that is like 150 USD turbo no? 😄 I dont think i have the "ease on my mind" with this kind of turbo. I just put over 7000k USD to "LINK" up my engine...dont want to blow it up with cheap turbo 😄     EDIT: https://www.cj-motor.com/gcg-turbo-charger-for-nissan-rb20det-rb25det-high?srsltid=AfmBOooVeOZ6CZ6r1AIv5m-KPaa6BvudIPJTY8LW78khkd-gQlsaCht9 I looked at this and it seems ok? It is that CGC hybrid and it costs around 1250 USD (with back shipping). Do any of you have experience with this hybrid on NEO turbo? I quickly look thru the forum/web and it seems very good.
