Hi all,

I'm a new member here and a new owner of a 2003 350GT Coupe (Absolutely love it).

I wanted to upgrade the seemingly outdated Bose system to a double din system.

I've read over multiple threads and don't really understand what parts I need (Shroud etc) as I see many different shrouds and am unsure as to which one will fit my car.

Would this one fit and match the colour of the silver 2003 350GT? https://conceptzperformance.com/nissan-jdm-double-din-conversion-kit-titanium-silver-infiniti-g35-03-04-sedan-coupe-v35-27500-am5kt_p_3413.php#description

Is someone able to list other parts that I would need to complete the upgrade with possible links by any chance?

My Father has a friend living in Japan who imports cars to Australia, so I could always get him to source something for me as long as I gave him the part I needed which is where I need your help.

Thanks heaps.

Jacob.

After more research, i've figured out that this is the part I will need.

Can anyone recommend any places to do the install in Sydney? I am no where near capable enough to install this myself and want someone who has experience in installing these.

I have the Bose system, Is there anything else I'll need other than what I list below?:

OEM Double din kit
Car Media player
PAC ROEM-NIS2

Cheers.

Just do a ring around to the Audio/Auto electricians.

The V35 has been around for a long time now and it's really common to install the double din and upgrade the audio. So i bet you'll find businesses with experience.

Thanks Paul,

I've rang around a lot places in my area and a lot of them don't have experience doing them, but are happy to give it a shot. I've read places like Strathfield audio and autobarn don't do the best jobs, but i've found a few places on gumtree who are willing to do it for a good price and who's work looks satisfactory. Hopefully someone can recommend a place in Sydney that they know has the experience with it.

So I had it installed today by the guys at Lifestyle Store in Parramatta. I am extremely happy with how it turned out and how much better it sounds. They were able to make it flush with the JDM facia and were able to route the USB conveniently into the centre console. Avi looked after me really well and actually has the exact same car so was very familiar with my concerns and was able to work well with what was needed. Was stoked they were able to keep the OEM nav pop up too.

Looks great!! So did you order the US shroud kit as well as the line out converter?

Thanks!

Yeah ordered both from the US which was the longest process as it took a little longer than I anticipated, but it turned out looking so much nicer than the metra kit conversions. I'm more than happy with how I went about it.

Hi mate.

I am at the point where you wre at the start of the thread, driving me a bit crazy!!
Can you help by telling me where did you get the double Din facia including dual zone climate control? Also, where did you get the English version TV/GPS?

Don't go crazy - just ring the guys at Lifestyle Store.

Haha. very interesting.

How are their pricing though?

I have my eye on the shroud alone rather than get the one with the a/c controls (doesn't seem necessary)  --  https://conceptzperformance.com/nissan-infiniti-nissan-jdm-68260-al710-double-din-radio-bezel-black-infiniti-g35-03-04-v35_p_3370.php

Just found the shroud cheaper here

apologies for the delayed response.

I don't know if you have had this sorted but I believe you will need both the shroud AND the a/c controls when putting in a double din. The one i ordered from concept z performance was not dual zone climate control, but they were able to take the button off the old a/c controls and solder it onto the new one that came with the fascia.

Also, my OEM nav/TV is still in japanese and not english :)

Hey jsmit94 how much did this all cost and can I just go to lifestyle and they supply the parts or do I have to buy them before I go there thanks

Hi there,

It cost me roughly $1200-$1400 for all the parts and the install.

They definitely do have a range of stereo's etc, but for the facia kit, you either need to buy a cheap metra one (they may be able to order it for you) or order the OEM one like I did from the US.

    • After using a protractor for an actually accurate assessment of what is required,  and by NOT using my uncalibrated eyeball I worked out I need a 25° silicone bend from the TB ro the MAF, but, my choice was either a 30° or a 23° (23° is a weird spec), so I grabbed the 23° one from Raceworks I also grabbed 1mtr of 3" straight from Just Jap, I needed 350mm, but they only had 300mm, or 1mtr lengths....meh Also ordered a 1/2" hose bulkhead fitting from fleabay, this has a smoothish mushroom looking head (they are designed for below the water line of boats) that will fit inside the bend, the hose bit and threaded bit looks to long, but nothing that a hacksaw cannot fix if required, the hose will then just get jamed on the threaded bit up to the retaining nut Fingers crossed and the unsightly amount of hose clamps will be reduced down to 4 once all the parts arrive
    • Oil change does not trigger code 21. Code 21 is for coilpacks primary side connection. You can try to clear the code with a battery disconnect, hold down the brake pedal to drain capacitors through the brake lights with the ignition on for 10-15 seconds before you reconnect the battery. I have seen R35 coil conversion permanently cause this code with no ill effects so it might be the resistance it wants to see isn't quite right on one or more coilpacks. Could be inside the ECU, could be the harness, could be a coil. You can test it all if you want or just ignore until the car actually starts misfiring.
    • I forgot you have a Nistune ECU. Use Nistune to do all the tests I mentioned instead of faffing with 30+ year old electrical connectors. You can read MAF volts off that too, there are reference values in the service manual to tell you roughly what it should be in different conditions.
    • No. I think it might be the AFM. Hence the use of the terms "swaptronics", which implies the use of swapping out electronics for the purpose of diagnosis. It's about the only way to prove that a small/niggling/whatever problem with an AFM or a CAS or similar is actually caused by that AFM/CAS/whatever. A known good item swapped in that still gives the same problem is likely to be caused somewhere else. They're all the same. Spraying AFMs with cleaner is an each way bet between cleaning it and f**king it.
    • Oh wow! This might actually work amazingly. Do you know the ratio of the diff? I was told the only thing you need to make sure of is if the front & rear diff ratios are the same. Ours is a 4.083 Thanks!
