hi there,

i bought a nissan stagea m35 arx 2001 from japan and imported it.

when i picked it up from sea port and drove it home (600km) my navigation unit (rear view camera, display, menue) was working. while driving from time to time it does start to turn off (black screen). from my feeling it depends on condition of the street.

after i got home the next day the navigation doesn´t turn on anymore. from the issue i thought  it should be a bad relay.

i searched the internet but i couldn´t find a wiring diagram which would make it easier to check from plug to plug to find the problem. the only thing i have nis Nissan FAST programm.

when i checked nissan fast (sec. 252 "relay") i found a relay called "DVD and Navigation" in parts list. but i couldn´t find that relay. from picture i think it should be in the middle of the car, under the dash, but not there and also not in engine bay (and wiper tunnel) i couldn´t find this relay. if i google the part numper it does show me a black relay.

did anyone know about that issue and/or know the relay position that i could check it?

its 100% not caused by navigation unit, as i allready tried another unit from another stagea i have. fuses also have been checked but couldn´t find a bad one.

today i checked the wiring diagram from G35.

first i checked the fuses. all are fine, but i note, G35 and Stagea are different. for example in G35 the 35A fuse behind the battery is for Horn at Stagea.

then i checked the wiring diagram, monitor seams to be identical, BUT.... then i note, that i had a mistake in my knowledge.

i thought, that the unit in the middle is Radio, Display and Naviation. this was caused as all removal videos say "navigation unit". the navigation unit is include in the cd player.

by checking this i note, that the plugs between G35 and Stagea are totally different. (G35 2-rows of pins, Stagea 3-rows pf pins).

did anyone have the japanese repair manual of the stagea?

Check behind the battery, there is another set of Fuse panel there. Then check the "BUNG" under the battery, if it's still there, remove it. Very common issue with our Stageas here, water sits there and cause all sort of electrical gremlin.

all fuses have been checked... in all fuse boxes. also all relais.

what do you exactly mean with "Bung"? what the translation programm say doesn´t make sence.

at all there should be no water, as the car sits in my storage for nearly two years.

thanks for this info with the rubber. i had a look into my other m35 stagea i drive daily, and saw there was about 2cm water, close under the fuse box.

about my other stagea with the navigation/display problem...

problem have been found. the navigation/cd player unit was non working. now with another unit everything is working fine.

what i would like to say is ,that  G35 wirking diagram and M35 is different.

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
