Another question I have I wanted to get a 2.5 inch exhaust for my r31 just wondering if use know a good site to order them off or a certain brand..? Iv been told eBay but thought I’d ask use first

Get a local exhaust shop to fab up a 2.5" mandrel bent cat back using two quality mufflers. Will sound nice and you might make an extra 1kW up top.

Sweet as will do cheers, another question sorry if I’m doing heads in.. I wanted to improve the air flow I was gonna do a basic pod filter but my brother was telling me to get a growler kit any thoughts ?

If any thing don’t worry about the exhaust just found out if I’m going to turbo my car I’m gonna need a bigger exhaust 2.5 inch is no good, would a growler kit be okay with a turbo though?

Do you reckon a growler kit would be good for a r31? Especially if I’m gonna turbo it eventually would I be able to keep it on or no?

What? no
best upgrades on my R31 are:
good tyres
working dampers
GTS/HR31 front brakes
manual conversion
3.9 auto LSD diff that doesn't whine
GTS1/mild cam

I was going to get the exhaust but a mechanic told me no point wasting money if the car is non turbo and Your planning to turbo it then a 2.5 inch exhaust is waste of money because I’ll need a bigger exhaust...? Is that true?

@Ben C34 very true, but if I’m gonna spend money I don’t want to be wasting it to much only want to get things that I need an if I’m gonna turbo the car no point getting a 2.5inch exhaust only thing is I’m trying weigh up is if the growler kit is worth it..? If I get it will it be the same thing with the 2.5inch exhaust..? If so is there anything I could do to the car that will help the air intake and what not without it getting in the way when I eventually throw in a turbo kit

If you're going to turbo the car, your first step would be to put the turbo on the car, and then get all the associated parts on it to support it (exhaust, injectors, fuel pump, ECU, etc)

What ever this growler kit is won't help you in that endeavour

Turbo + fuel system + ECU + intercooler + pipework + exhaust manifold + oil&water plumbing to/from turbo + exhaust + dump pipe + installation work for oil supply and drain, etc. + tuning.

The list really should include upgraded brakes.

Oh, and you're in Victoria. So what you are proposing is not road legal. You will need to pay for engineering.

@GTSBoy I would want it to be street legal

I’m trying to make it full on just basic turbo an psi and what not.. even if you can recommend a garret turbo would be much appreciated.. I know there’s different sizes an what not so if you can recommend one that’ll fit good an wont go to hard to not be street legal

Iv been looking around found one on market place he reckons it came off a Jeep commander an reckons it’ll be good for a r31 but I’m not sure which is why I’m showing you guys

    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
    • Will this fit? but they are staggered set - RAYS 57DR SEMI GLOSS BLACK 18x8.5 +37 | 18x9.5 +38 5-114.3 STAGGERED SET   or If no go could just get a set 4's wheels of 18x8.5 +37 5-114.3 - would i run 8.5's 235s up front n 245's at the back if I do?   Thanks.
    • Put a clamp on your return line. I have a feeling it's sucking air, and introducing bubbles to your fuel. With a lot of fuel, less problematic. I'd honestly be redoing all the lines in the tank and clamps on everything.   Also, you've given two different answers to the same question: Asked if being followed by the police you could get down to use the whole tank, you said yes you could, so long as you keep off boost. However, you then followed this up that free revving, it would also cause the issues. I'm doubting free revving is enough to make any noticeable boost on what is likely a decent sized turbo.   So now I have to ask, can you actually drive it lightly and use all the fuel, or does it break up even free revving? Also, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it? Can you hear the pump change noise at all when you're having this issue?
